most of them are baked under the sun, no rust at all and the owner will happily accept any lowball offer…
No wonder why lately big trucks from all around Europe come and get stuffed with parts and sometimes the whole car…

We see lots off old cars when we go to Greece 🌞
They would be worth a lot of money in the UK 🤩

They are called “sakaràka” that means old and abandoned car. Most of them in pretty decent condition, the climate has been very kind to their bodies. Even Ladas dont rust in Greece.
Call them barnfinds. Wrecks, pos, whatever, heres a mixed collection for your viewing pleasure.

parts. They can not find parts to fix them.
or at least parts at the right price to justify repairing them.
in most cases it something simple, like a fuel pump, an alternator or something electrical that went bad.
in other cases it just not reasonable to keep the car registered.
that black mercedes if registered would have € 1.300 per year road tax and 600 for a basic insurance. That is almost 2.000 euros for a car that doesnt worth as much in the market.
so they just let them rot.

Just for comparison, a euro 6 Toyota Yaris hybrid pays zero tax, a diesel bmw 116 pays 105€ and a Tesla model X has not tax and no registration fees.
so paying 2k for a “sakaràka” makes no sense.

A Macabre car spotting. RIP whoever you are.
Seems the SLK was quite an obsession for him. 4C702B14-4F74-4A40-A31A-52675859AE3B.jpeg

That is an estate car, is the white vehicle next to it with the square headlights a van? If it is it could be a Mk.2 van, the only thing I knew which had square headlights.

Tony.
I am not aware of an escort van.
We have tons of transits though.
