Car sorned

Rang my insurance broker today and got it confirmed that it is not a legal requirement that your car has to be insured while it's on sorn.
Was told the obvious really that if you don't insurance then you accept any loss that could occur.
Asked about third party fire and theft, would there be a saving going that route and no, was told that this cover in most instances works out
more expensive for some reason!!
So there we have it, the only saving is the road tax and running expenses of course, and keeping the mileage down.
My road tax is £220 a year and runs out end of December so I suppose if I did that at the end of October till the end of April 2014 I would save
about £110.....................................................................................................................Nah I could not go open the garage door and not want to go for
a drive somewhere, even if its just to fetch the milk and newspaper.:coolsteer)

I don't think I will sorn but if I did my insurance would half and i would save a load of tax. Perhaps it is because you use a broker!

:coolsteer)Made the most of the beautiful weather yesterday , went to Norwich (25 miles away ) hood down all the way , couldn't sorn as luv driving the Z too much , fingers crossed we get more sunny day , but even when the weather changes it's still good to drive the Z, :)

Hi jamezee, I take it you don't use a broker then, most do though I would have thought, so who do you use then mate?

What a change in the weather , my poor little Z have been out in gale force winds, rivers in the roads , rain so hard I thought it was coming through the roof , but we made it home in one piece :)

Get it Sorned quick ;)

I have sorned mine today so got to the end of the month to hopefully get a couple of dry runs in before the tax runs out, not something I have ever considered or done before but I don't like the thought of my car being out in all that rain, snow and salt !!

Put it to sleep for a few months!

I did exactly the same last week so mine was only sorned for a month !! As our weather is so hit and miss you never know we might get a nice sunny but cold Xmas day !!

Yep, nothing better than a winters drive

I'm still SORNed:(. The roads here in the sticks are filthy with mud & leaves and puddles within 50' of my drive. No point in driving throught that to get to decent roads. The car will be dirty before I start. Back on the road in the Spring or for Bills cruise - whichever comes first...

I had a lovely cross country cruise to an appointment 20 miles away yesterday roof down there and back... Car is bloody filthy now, but that's winter roads for you! :coolsteer)

Lucky s*d;)

Same here Mark.........just got back from the last drive before tax expires tonight with 1020 miles this year :)

Everyone to their own opinion; but I have always appreciated driving the Zed, with the roof down in full sunshine, and have never felt the need to experience a ragtop in the middle of winter, - 5 deg, with snow and ice thrown in

Roll on next year

You can have as much fun on a real crisp day with the roof down as you can during the summer. IMHO

If it's not raining and the road is reasonably dry, top goes down, jacket, scarf and hat go on, hot air applied 50/50 face and footwell, heated seat switched to low setting. Upon driving off, smile appears on face!

Still get a little thrill, from it all. Even from just looking at her. And the backward glances and comments from others is just the icing on the cake. Ahh, me!
