On my hellrot 1999 bmw z3 someone kicked my wing mirrors - the right one survived (glass shattered though) and the left one shattered but the metal base/arm snapped aswell - what’s the best way forward? Glue the arm and base back together? Buy one of those plastic vases and spray it hellrot red? I’ve also notched that even when I put the wingmirror where it would be if it wasn’t snapped - it’s at an odd almost drooping angle

Post a pic if you can.
The mirrors seize in the spindle,if they snap then, they can’t be fixed.
I’m fairly sure they can be soldered back together, I have the materials to do it and Andy, spurs fan in a coupe, kindly sent me some scrap mirrors to try it on. Except once they have seized it’s impossible to separate the base from the spindle. No point In trying if it ends up in a solid mirror.
I am trying to clean up a cad file I’ve made, that could then be printed, but I have more than a little on to get round to finishing.

Any advice on the actual mirror glass part? Are the mirror glasses all the same
Only the M mirror is different, I think all other Z3's are the same, imagine spursfan has some mirror lenses. Depends where it has snapped, but the collets inside corrode and fail like mine, here is a fix I did, just depends where the break is on yours.

The mirrors are a bit of a weak spot. Even just attempting to fold them in can snap them off. One of mine snapped off all by itself while I was driving. Unless you’re happy with a bodge job, it’s likely to cost you £120 per mirror to replace whether you go for the grp replacement or a used one from a breaker. I got a used one from @spurs fan in a coupe just because I didn’t want to paint the base of a new grp one.

Temporary solution lol - I’ve also noticed that the driver side base is longer and ‘sits upright’ compared to the passenger side - I’ve also been informed that the driver side door was replaced

Would I get a hellrot spray can to spray the base?
There is a seller on eBay in Ireland who makes up aerosol paint in any colour you want, very reasonable price and having had 4 different ones I find colour match excellent.

Also - I know this is a bad idea for many reasons - but to pass MOT or to travel on the road at like 30 mph would I be able to just superglue it back in place
