Tony, thank you, pics are a great help. Any idea how much brake pipe is needed for the complete system? I did buy some from our local factors but cannot remember what length it was, I was using it for a 137MHz vhf antenna for weather satellite reception!
It has been longer than I care to admit since I parted with my pipe flaring kit, so it means buying a new one, has anyone any recommendations on what is currently on the market?
Oh, and a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone:reindeer::hohoho:
Colin.

Hi Colin, just got in from a meal out with friends. Something like this is ideal, it's the same type that I use.

Tony.

ps. Not too sure how much you would need to re pipe your car but I would buy two rolls and return the second if you don't need it.

Would replacing with braided lines be a good idea? My car had corroded lines picked up as an advisory on the mot just before I bought it... Need to get them sorted

Hi Danny, braided lines are only a replacement for the (6) rubber flexible hoses which are fitted between the suspension and the car body. I fitted braided lines on my car.
The steel pipework needs to be replaced by similar pipes made of steel, Kunifer or pure Copper.
I did a write up on brake replacement a few years ago, here,

https://zroadster.org/threads/brake-pipe-replacement-procedure.6051/

This might help.

Tony.

That's great thank you... How much, roughly, would you think it'll be to replace them

Just in parts Danny I would say £35 ish. two rolls of pipe and a ltr of Dot3/4 fluid and some unions. It is possible to re use unions if they come undone easily.

Mmm right ok... Just been having a look on eBay, flaring kit is around £10, 25ft of pipe is about £11 then unions to be sure I guess... Are they easy enough to get to?

Yes mate they are. I would only change what I call the front and rear "inner" pipes ie the front ones from the flexible hoses inwards (the O/S one goes directly to the ABS pump and the N/S one can be joined in the rear of the engine bay OR run straight through to the ABS pump. The rear inner ones are inboard from the flexible hose between the swing arm and the floor.
A good idea is to spray where the pipes are in the plastic clips a couple of times before you start to do them and they should prise out of the clips without breaking the clips.

Thank you Tony. I've just ordered the kit. The same one on Amazon, or very, very similar, is £29! It looks like the old one I used to have, but there again, I suppose they all do and with my memory you could show me an elephant, say it was a brake kit and I would agree:D.
Not too worried about extra piping, I can always make more antenna's!!!
Just got to wait until she goes in for her body work and I can get it done in the warm:p gone are the days like on Mt Trudos in Cyprus, 6ft snow drifts and changing a 3ton Bedford propshaft:wacky:.
Colin.
P.S. Sorry for the long delay in replying, my boys seemed to think I had to go and visit them and the grandkiddlywinkles for a week or two for some reason. Huh, the youth of today!!!
