C'mon over here..........We can break you in on the Jersey Turnpike.......12 lanes of screaming traffic and no one looks back. Frankiei'm a Euro virgin as Ive never driven on the wrong side of the road.
Don't know mate, if we go out all day we either eat at a restaurant and have a snack evening meal or vice versa. Our snack meals we get from the supermarkets as it's much cheaper. Bought a ham and cheese sandwich yesterday for €0.89. About 65p. Quite a bit cheaper than the UK. And diesel (gasoil here) is way cheaper now. Filled up yesterday for €1.13. That's 0.79p a litre! I think we're being ripped off! They all sell Lunchpacks?
Thanks Mark. How's the Man with 3 legs doing?Yep to right we are. Photos look great thanks for taking the time to share. Appears that your both are having a great time I hope the rest of your trip is just as good.
It is Tony it is! I did a grumpy pose! Can't stand the sand between my toes it's an awful feeling! But in Jues defense the walk down the beach with said watery stuff sloshing at my feet was quite nice, don't tell her I said that she'll never ever ever let it drop, ever!Last picture a definite Grumpy pose. Nice pictures mate.
Tony.
Great statue of Napoleon on his trusty steed in the Square too! Dave.glad you're both having a good time, it's an amazing place to have your hols, we love it!!!Now then Mr Mint, you said no tv,no radio and no zorging! It is fantastic, if I could moan a little about one thing it would be it's a little far out from everything. There's a small town 2.5km away but struggles on restaurants etc. Found La Roche sur yon today. A big town 25km away, really nice, mix of traditional buildings with a modern centre full of boutique shops and restaurants. That will be our base for our evening meals from now on. Shame it's not a tad closer but apart from that it's a huge thumbs up.
@EnthuZiaZT, that is interesting, we had all intention yesterday of visiting il-de-re and had already been online to have a look. After reading the toll costs, now higher than the figure you paid and the residents don't like people hopping over we decided not to bother spending more time in La Rochelle which we both loved! Nice to know we did the right thing.Did you get to see Ile de Ré, Dave. If not, you didn't miss anything. Curiosity got the better of us and we decided to visit the island in 2013, Apart from the bridge toll costing the equivalent of £14, it was worse than being in Cambridge on market day! We have never seen so many bikes, with no regard for any other road user, We took a picnic that day and couldn't find anywhere scenic to set up (unlike the Vendeé) When we finally found somewhere off the beaten track, we were oggled by a convoy of SEGWAYS as they bimbled past!!! it was hilarious!! The only plus point was the beautiful view of the island and the mainland crossing the bridge.
Enjoy the rest of your hols!
Mike & Sandy
