Bo***cks !!!!!

@Jjim , Thank you for your very generous offer.
Can I PM you on monday once I have seen the repairers.
If I end up doing the repair myself, then I will definitely be taking up your offer.
What did the repairers say ? Geoff

Car collected last night. So estimate being done today .....or at least it better be !!

NOT IMPRESSED !!

So far, unless I have chased them, I have been told zilch !!
Originally told car would be picked up yesterday between 9am and 5pm.....actually was 5.45.
When I said that the garage shut at 5pm, was told by the driver that he had a key to get in their yard.
Havant is 17 miles away. Phoned this morning at 11am to put pressure on to get quote done....Car had not been delivered!! I called the breakdown company and found it was left in a Yard in Fareham overnight. Then got a call from the garage to say it was delivered about 11.30 (probably due to me giving them a bit of an ear bashing)

Spoke to the insurance company about 4pm, and they hadn’t received any info from the garage.
I have told them that I dont want pattern parts and any thoughts of writing it off is out of the question.
They have noted my displeasure, have promised to chase it up and call me tomorrow. I will wait and see!

I think it needs a trip down to Havant....:ymdevil:

Remember that using BMW parts is what can push a car towards being written off. It’s a catch 22 that one.

Will be interested to see what the position is with regard to blocking it from being written off. I’ve always assumed it’s not possible. But perhaps it is?

I managed it before on a Honda Silverwing 500cc bike.
Due to its age and value, the Insurance wanted to write it off, but I agreed a settlement, stripped it down and rebuilt it.
No labour costs involved, and I found some good used parts.

As far as wanting BMW parts on the Zed, thats what the car has now so want it repaired to same standard.
Being honest, I would prefer to do the repairs myself. If I do it, as time is not an issue like it will be in the garage. every bolt and nut will be cleaned and greased, and everything would be cleaned while the front is dismantled,

When ours was damaged with the hail storm a few years back I had ours repaired at a repairer of my choice who used a bonnet I supplied. so if you can negotiate with the repairers or get a reasonable quote to the insurance co that may be a way to go.

The insurers approved body shop will use new parts so bonnet, headlamps, bonnet grills any other damage at the rear is near 2K in parts before fitting and paint so any deal on supply of parts will be to your advantage. I told our insurers I didn't want a new bonnet on a 12 year old car but a 12 year old bonnet.

All they said is that they wont guarantee the repairs which in my case was fine as it was only dents if yours has any structural damage that might be a different proposition.

Discuss with repairers or find a recommended one locally to you.

My old bonnet is off (the one with some hail stone dents). Let me know if you want it, no probs if not as I'll call a local scrap collector.

If you need any photos let me know.

Another 24 hours.......and still nothing from the garage or insurance company as to cost of damage. :banghead:

I think I'd be at DEFCON1 by now mate. A visit and a conversation with me on transmit and them firmly on receive. Rubbish 'service' absolute rubbish

I have had cars and bikes damaged over the years and I don’t t think I have ever been so pi**ed off as I feel at the moment.

I never realised until now how attached I have become to that 20 year old car and I have only had it less than a year. I have probably spent more money on the ZED that any previous car or bike , but I have had so much enjoyment driving and working on it.
There is just something about it, that I really wish the accident had happened to my Kia ( which is the first car I have ever had brand new) rather that my Z3.

How frustrating i can feel a visit coming on keep us posted and good luck Geoff

I can really identify with that. I would be gutted if anything serious happened to mine. It was bad enough when the door was dented, which of course was easily fixed. Almost feels like part of the family.... weird or what!

Went down the garage yesterday and ‘ went into pain in the arse mode’ which resulted in getting my car looked at yesterday afternoon. Didn’t get the phone call as promised, so phoned this morning to find out that the estimate had been done and e-mailed to insurance company. When I queried the details, I was told that the estimator was not in the office and no-one could tell me.

So phoned the third parties insurance company Churchill, to find out details.
Bearing in mind that at every call I have made so far, I have stressed that my Insurance and Car Tax run out at the end of the month so I needed to know what was happening as to getting them renewed.
I was told that it takes 7 working days to complete. 2 days to appoint an engineer and then 5 days for the enginner to process the paperwork.

Went into ‘ huge pain in the arse mode ‘. and made it very clear that as the innocent party in all of this, I was really pi$$ed off with all the delays and the lack of help and consideration that I had received.

30minutes later had a phone call to say an enginner had been appointed and I would have his answer on Monday or Tuesday morning at the latest. ..........And was I happy with the resolution to my complaint.

I accepted the resolution as the time scale was now 1 working day, but if I had not been chasing and pushing everyone, then nothing would have been done, and it would have taken weeks.

At one stage this morning I was thinking of just picking up the car from the garage and get on with fixing it myself, so I dont have to deal with these people anymore. Dont need all the stress!!!!

Now have to wait to see what monday brings!!!!
