Bo***cks !!!!!

Just been out in the garage to have another look.
Cant see how to get the bonnet open without doing further damage.

Where the bonnet has lifted at the front I can feel the lever but it is bent and there is no movement at all.
The cable realease pull lever in the footwell doesnt move either.

Really frustrating.

Have had a couple of calls from insurance companies etc. And the Smart Car insurers have admitted their driver totally to blame and offerered to repair the car. No mention of max cost or limits!!
Had a call from National Accident Repair and was informed that their local repair centre would be in touch to arrange to collect the car.
And where is it going for the repairs......Seward Accident Repair Centre. In Havant. Where I had the shunt !

I will insist that only genuine BMW parts are used, and want to see the extent of the damage once the bonnet is open.

BUT...

After reading the posts and thinking about things logically, I will be taking all your good advice, and if
there is any hassle or mention of write off, I will go back to his insurers to get a settlement figure and repair the car myself.
I am not going to lose my car because of a friggin’ numpty in a bloody SmartCar

Sorry to hear this @Mazza. As others have said, at least you both walked away from it. Good luck with the insurers.

So sorry to this :(

What colour is yours - Arctic or Titan silver?

Sorry to hear what has happened to you, and your car, whilst you were en route to me.
By the way I did not receive this as a message even though my name was highlighted. Found it on What's New.
Hope that the repairs go well and at no cost to yourself.
Also hope that Trish is not too shaken and soon gets over it.
Maxine and I want to see you and your Zed back on the road ASAP.

We thought it would be nice to have a run out today to Verwood as the sun was shining.
So decided en route to call in on my freindly fabricator to see how the straps are progressing ( or not??)
Forgot it was half day and the factory was shut up !!
Also, On the way, I also had an envelope containing two seat connectors to drop off
@Alan Slade for his heated seat retro fit..........

..........Never got passed Havant as ended up in a three car shunt, and I was the middle one.

Some bloody SmartCar hit me and pushed me into a Honda SUV
Cant get the bonnet open and better not try to force it before it has been assessed by the insurance company.
Visible Damage is the bonnet, front valance, grills, headlight pushed back and rear valance, but there could be more once the bonnet is released.
The car was driveable but took it slow and returned home. Its now in the garage

We are both ok now but Tricia was a bit teary when it happened and I felt a bit sick, probably the shock of it.

Now I just feel so p***** off.:bashhead:
The driver of the Smart car has admitted that it was his fault, but that will not compensate me for all the crap that I will have to go through in the next month or two to get things sorted out. Plus the fact that tomorrow a really expensive Camshaft Sensor will arrive and I cant even fit it. :banghead:

My biggest worry is that although the car has had a load spent on it, its insurance value is quite low and there could be a possibility of it being written off if the repairs are too costly.

I am sorry some how I pressed the quote button on the touch pad and ended up posting Mazza’s post.
I was trying to say I was sorry to hear of the accident and glad they are both ok.

Sorry to hear about this but I think you are taking the right approach. You need to be firm with the insurers, it may take some time.

Oh deary me, not another. I believe you can argue it not being Cat registered as it happened to someone I know and they let him have it back unregistered and a settlement figure. He is good at arguing though! Hope all gets sorted.

Very sorry to hear this @Mazza. As lots of people have said pleased to hear of no injuries to you both. Hope you can come to an agreement with the insurers.

So glad your both OK, as for the car @Mazza I wouldn’t worry about the stigma the “D” cat seems to apply, you’ll know weather it’s still gonna meet your approval after it’s repaired and if you didn’t intend to sell in the near future your probably not going to be that much out of pocket. Your Z repaired will probably be better than buying another. Good luck.

RHA,Roy.:)

So sorry to hear this I do hope that it is not written off butvglaf that you are both ok. Geofg

I’m actually replacing my Arctic Silver bonnet this weekend as it has some minor dents as it was caught in a hail storm. No rust at all.

You’re more than welcome to it.

Nice one, Jjim. Very generous offer.
I do love this group!!

@Jjim , Thank you for your very generous offer.
Can I PM you on monday once I have seen the repairers.
If I end up doing the repair myself, then I will definitely be taking up your offer.

No problem, let me know.

Might be worth coming up with a list of parts your car will need, many of us have some odds and ends in the garage that might help. There but for the grace of God and all that!
Well worth keeping a M44 on the road!

Postman has just delivered the Camshaft Sensor :arghh:

Cant fault the service from Sopers.

Thats one job that will have to wait a while:whistle:

After I got the National Repair centre to chase them up, Seward finally called me at 11.00 this morning.
I had been phoning them since 8.30 with no answer, after I received a text saying to call them.
A very apologetic manager saying that he was on his own etc.....

He then phoned back about 15 minutes later to tell me that the car would be collected some time on Monday..
Checked them out and a lot of mixed reviews:eek:

In the meantime I think I will look at the exploded view to make a list of possible parts, and then get some pricing together so I have some idea of what it might cost me to do the repair and if parts are available.
Could well need some help from our resident breakers for some bits, :)
Plus if I go to see @Jjim in Mansfield for the bonnet...I could collect any other parts needed on the same day.

I know a very good spray shop locally so will go and have a word with them as well.

On a really positive note.....Tricia said ‘ you could always buy another one ‘. YIPPEE. =)) =))=)):thankyou:

Hope everything goes as best as possible.

Put up a list of parts and I’ll see if I’m able to help with anything else.
