Sorry for any offence Tony but it is just not my cup of tea if it is not OEM.
First time I ever hit the disagree button. I used to own a Mercury Monterey. It was truly a boat. You could sit 4 people comfortably in the back seat. 460 cu.in. w/4 bbl. carb. Really big heavy car. I was driving through a parking lot at night at the speed of a person walking. Now how the hell fast is that? There was a pole that had been run over and bent down to the ground, the end of which was facing me and I was driving toward it. The front of the car passed over it but it caught the frame and stopped the car dead. I hadn't put on my seat belt 'cause
I was only in the parking lot going slow. Yet I flew forward over the steering wheel striking the windshield with my head. As I fell back into the seat I expected to see the windshield cracked or broken. It wasn't nor did I split open my forehead. But it taught me a strong lesson about safety and how things can happen.
If I had to pick a forum member that I would never expect to make your statement, it would be you. You always seemed to me to be a person that has a strong sense of exactly how things work and what can happen. Cars that have metal tops have built in protection. Ours don't. I think that I would probably be right in saying that you have better driving skills that most people on the road. So if it ever happens that you are involved in an accident, it probably won't be your fault. I can't bring myself to believe that you would prefer the 'look' of a car over the protection functional roll bars offer. There aren't many forum members I would ask this of, but I need you to explain this to me. If you choose to ignore this, I'll assume that I've overextended myself and apologize. Sincerely, Frankie
