I replaced my pads all round with EBC ultimax pads and have no complaints.. much cheaper than their green stuff pads and feel nice and grippy even when not bedded in.. may upgrade the front discs to drilled and grooved at some point but the fact remains that l have more confidence in my 2003 hyundai matrix family car brakes..

I changed mine for whatever euro carparts supplied me with. I press the pedal and the car stops. :D Think they were £35 on a big discount weekend. Happy days!

Only info I could gather today was from ECP, for my car front Brembo Extra drilled/grooved £57 each. For a 98 2.8 Z3, £56 each and Z3 front callipers £30 each. All plus vat.
My tame parts guy at AP is back from his jollies next week.

Tony.

Not really Dave, we fitted just the O/S one on Steve's car without any problems (that I know of?) anyway. Strangely , to be precise, the N/S calliper is about £2 dearer than the O/S one.
There's always a chance that AP will beat ECP price, I like to introduce a little rivalry.;)

Oh OK not to expensive then. Will my new pads still be OK or would I need to replace them Tony?

They'll be fine mate, maybe just clean the face on a sheet of 80grit on a flat surface.

I was going to ask if you needed to change the callipers when you put drilled/ventilated disks on. I guess you've answered that by talking about callipers too.
Are those standard ones you're talking about or something more exotic like 6 pots?
The front disks on mine are a little uneven - not badly I don't think, but, you never know at MOT time. Would make sense to jump now if there's any chance of it failing.

Hi Ian, no I won't be changing my callipers, that was for Dave's 2.8. The discs I'm looking for are a straight swap for my standard ones at 300mm dia. and 22mm thick. If I'm correct the 3.0 si models have 320mm dia. discs but are same in thickness.

Slightly larger than that - 325mm dia and 25mm thick. From £150 north of £210 for drilled and grooved disks and c£75 for yellow stuff pads. Am sure both could be got somewhat cheaper (or trade).
Have never been hard on brakes and certainly not looking for track performance. Having said that I don't remember having to stand on the brakes or really work them hard for any reason - must have done so just don't remember. Probably should do so to see just how they react before I make any changes. Will see what the MPT brings before I commit to spending.

The M.O.T. is likely the only time most cars have their brakes tested to "lock out" during a years use. When ABS cuts in the pressure is released and applied rapidly, you don't get that when you test each individual brake separately. Sounds like a wise choice mate, wait and see if anything crops up. Trust you're feeling better these days?

Much better thanks although today is the first day I've felt anything like OK. Still got a hacking cough - Have given it all to Gail though. She's been off for four days.

You'll not be popular then mate. Glad to hear you're on the mend anyway.

I have the Mtec all around with the black coating and its great not to see rusting disks, the black coating lasted about 5 years on my Alfa so its well worth the extra £15 per pair, also I find the slots in the disks help so much in the wet as the brakes work instantly again after driving through water :)

Thank you, all feedback is good. Then I can make an informed decision.

Got the Mtec discs, slotted dimple drilled, red stuff pads, new OEM front calipers HEL braided brake lines all 5yrs old now and still stopping me better than the OEM set up. Red stuff pads give you very little dust on wheels being part ceramic and handle a lot of hard braking with very little fade. Manufacturer says 30% extra braking efficiency so must be good, No??????:bored:..................
