My Gap-tec plus arrived today :thumbsup:Hopefully get it fitted before the weekend and my new rear Conti Contact Sport Tyre arrived at the fitters just waiting to take car in on Saturday to get it fitted.

Someone else mentioned having one recently which failed. Think it was @Redline. Hope it's not a big issue as it's on my list for impending purchase. May consider saving a bit longer and going with the SmartTop version instead.

Did you solder the wires Bill or use the connectors? Sorry if thats a daft question. I soldered mine and it's been fine. I know people have had issues with those connectors as some of the wires are so thin.

Eibach springs and clear side repeaters ordered, new shocks, drilled and grooved discs to be sourced over the next few days

I used the connectors as i always do this, then i fix them permanently when i have proved things work. I used saftey pins stuck in the cars loom wires and the Modules wires to prove continuity

Gaz - It isn't the device thats the problem but the nasty snap on connectors that clip onto the existing wiring - by the time you've shoe-horned the cabling back into the space. It all works fine when you've got the panel out, push it back and its enough to stop it working again.
@t-tony stripped the plastic back on the wiring and then soldered the connections on - A bit if a faff to do. I was concerned about damaging the loom.
Its ould be much better if you could get male & female plugs for the three connectors and make up an interface cable to sit between the loom and the three plugs for the 12v supply and the switches for roof etc.

Thanks for popping in and clarifying. Knew you had some issues, but couldn't remember what exactly.

Audo correct did some unhelpful changes on my post =))

I did get it working by taking to the connectors with a decent pair of pliers. It stopped and then did it again - works fine now (fingers crossed)

I can not get mine to work even with the consul out i even tested the wires from the module to the connected wires of the loom and have continuity

Fitted my Strut Brace that I got from a member on here, Looks nice in polished alloy and it's helped out with the tramlining since I've put 18"s on. Front end seems a bit more planted and the backend steps out with more grace now.....=))

I totally removed the ashtray and switch panel, disconnected the switch panel and put it to one side. I removed enough of the loom wrapping to easily get to the relevant 5 wires. Used a wire stripping tool to part the insulation and connected each wire in turn Then re insulated the wires with tape and refitted the bits. It's always worked ok. I would ditch those connector blocks personally. Halfords do not allow their use in their workshops when fitting accessories, this is the reason why. It's not a problem to me but it's part of what I do.;)

But if you do that you have twice the amount of connections and twice the possibility for a problem.

I agree Tony. I only used the connectors to prove the part was working then i was going to do a permanent connection but i never got that far. I did prove there was continuity between each pair of wires. I also have the whole consul removed and have stripped away around 3" of the Loom protector ready to make permanent connections.

I guess you're going to have to contact the guys at Gap-Tech then mate. I suppose like anything "mass" produced there will always be an odd fault with one. Bugger it had to be yours though. Hope you get it sorted out soon mate.:)
