Pursue Tesco Shelly, they are the people you have a contract with. They are telling you to go to the Freshener Company knowing full well you'll get nowhere as you have no contract with them, but hey it gets you off Tescos back. Pursue Tesco, give 'em bad press, poor customer relations whatever..
Shelly you need to get a little aggressive with these people! I know it's not in your nature but you need to up the anger level!! Good luck, JIM

Emails don't get lost. If Tesco can lose legally disclosable documents that easily I think HM Customs and Excise would be right to take a close look at their processes - let's see if they're not able to find all the pounds in their profits - again. 
Funny - They never seem to lose payments made to them.
Seriously - Their response is completely disingenuous. From a technology point of view their excuse is complete tosh. If that's happened someone should be sacked. Ask for an address that you can write to and send your issue recorded delivery.

But how they got "lost " I don't know
Try threatening some legal action as I said before delaying tactics hoping you will get bored fed up you will eventually go away.
The Z3's (and I reckon the Z4 too) have a very distinct smell, I love to smell it everytime I open the door despite 16 years of top-down driving and stuff: it smells like old leather and fuel, I can't quite describe it but it's "the Z3 smell" and it plays to me a big part in the driving experience that involves all the senses...why would you want to cover it with anything else...?

And this is possibly the best time of year for smells in cars. The honeysuckle is blooming away, people having barbies etc, lovely driving about in the evenings, no air freshener required. Or perhaps that's just me.
