Basic tools

Agree with previous comments - If you are going to be working under the car, or even with the car just raised, then you need some axle stands or ramps - Halfords have some 2 tonne ratchet stands @ ~£25 a pair but very similar in B&Q @ ~£16. I bought a pair of Halfords a few years ago and am about to buy a pair from B&Q.

Ratchet stands are excellent, especially when you're removing them from under the car

halfords tools are good but you could always try machine mart.decent tools and guarenteed.worth a look....

SUGAR. SOZ mate.:)

 That's ok Tony I need the tools, although I have no room for anything, I think my boot will have to be a mobile toolbox.

Connor.
Be very careful who sees you working and/or putting tools in your boot mate or you're likely to have some scrote try to open your boot if you don't have a garage.

Tony.

Have a look around some car boot sales too. You will be surprised what you can pick up. I got a pair of car ramps for £5 a couple of years back. A coat of hammerite paint and they're like new.

Look for things like pry bars, axle stands, oil cans, files, bench vice, etc.

If you have a birthday coming up, drop "hints" to your nearest and dearest, just like they do to us, lol

Good point,

City centre of Sheffield as well... Probably not the best idea.

Well I've bought myself a new number plate. I didn't opt for them to fit them and didn't realise they weren't drilled :wacky: so have to do that.

But..
I bought myself this today.

Very happy with my first set of tools.

That looks a really useful kit Connor.

Half Price too,

I'm going to tackle the seat bushes this weekend I think. The rear discs need changing but I don't think i'm ready.

Looks a good set and you have the spanners for the seats 13mm and 16mm if I remember.
Don't forget once the seat wiring is unplugged underneath do not turn on the ignition otherwise you will probably put the airbag light on which won't turn off unless it is reset. Once you have finished moving the seat to get at the bolts put the key inside the house.

It is also easier to lift the seat out with the roof down.

You will need larger torx bits to tackle those seat bushes, also for the brakes you will need a 7mm allen key fitting. Same set as one of mine. Can't fault it.
