Wednesday, cracked windscreen on the zed so I phone my insurance. They take the details and transfer me to Autowindscreens. Ok, they can fix this at the Derby branch on Saturday, but they will text me to say what time.Thursday I receive a text which tells me to go to a 'link' for information about my appointment. The link doesn't work.No local branch telephone number available just a national automated number.Eventually I get a text late Friday afternoon saying my appointment is 8.30 am Saturday. At 8.30 the place is deserted, but a chap arrives at 8.40. Tells me the 'technician' isn't there yet. 9.05 am nothing happening and he says he can't contact said technician. I ask if the appointment can be re booked so he calls the office. They say someone will call me asap to sort it out. 11.30 am no call received. Excellent service ! I eventually managed to get someone on 'Live chat' and got an appointment on Wednesday. What time? Somebody will text you. We'll see !

That's not good mate 😕

Big companies Andy, they're all the same in my experience. :(
We had Auto Windshields for both the Skoda and Renault this year, appointments booked at our house. On both occasions turned up on time, replaced and job done mate. The Yeti developed a minor leak, they were right on it and took the screen out and refitted it with no issues since.

At work we always used Autowindscreens and they were always on time quick and efficient, however, things didn’t go smooth for our Abz when she booked a screen fitting on her A4 Cab. first time fitter brought wrong screen, then next day he was sent out on another job in the opposite direction and took Abz screen with him. It just got worse and worse on the 6th try they finally got it done and stood half of their excess.

Tony.

When my windscreen cracked in cold spell in 2017 (went to get car out of garage and huge crack across windscreen), contacted my insurance company and they gave me two options.
1. £60 excess and take to Autowindscreen depot. Non OEM windscreen would be fitted.
2. £100 excess and sort out replacement OEM windscreen with green tinted band including fitting kit and new seal. Had to pay myself up front and insurance company reimbursted cost misus excess.

I went for option two (total cost at dealers (£831.47). I did discover that a previous owner way back had a new windscreen installed but the installer had fitted a Roadster seal instead of the correct Coupe item. The top corners are shaped to run into the two roof rail slots. Shortly afterwards It turned into a interesting thread on the M Coupe Forum as another owner wondered why the his windscreen seal didn't sit correctly in the top corners of the windscreen. I was able to put him right.

Its great when information shared helps another owner sort out a problem.

New screen fitted yesterday, but the non BMW rubber is wrinkled. They assure me it won't leak and the rubber will go down better after a while.

Should I complain to my insurer, A Flux ?
Would ask for a guarantee from Auto windscreens. Sounds like the old taylors con "it will run up with wear"
A Flux just the broker, will be an independent insurance company

The screen is guaranteed not to leak, would be replaced if it did, but the rubber looks a bit untidy at the top.

It may not leak but it doesn't look right. It should be re-done correctly.

They did my windscreen 4 times last year to get it right. First attempt they shut the bonnet down on a heat gun and dented it. Took hours for them to open bonnet. Seal was all wrinkled. Cheap non bmw parts. Second attempt drove a 50 mile round trip to be told they had no seal and the pattern ones they had were crap. 3rd attempt new windscreen and seal. The didn't fit the plastic at the bottom of the windscreen down properly so my carpet got soaked when I washed it. 4th attempt 3rd new windscreen and seal. Seal an inch too short but I have lost the will to live by now. In the past national windscreens fitted one 1st time perfectly. Only after contacting Churchill insurance to claim for the damage to my bonnet did they pay up. But not for the 3 wasted days off work. Sadly we normally use the company used by our insurance and have no choice. My first seal was like yours and I was told it would settle down. That was rubbish and they knew it. As I was told on the second attempt the seals they use are crap.

Took mine back this afternoon after contacting Autowindscreens. They just used a heat gun to flatten the wrinkles. It is better. I can't remember exactly what the original was like, but I stopped and looked at another E85 and it was no better. So all in all it's ok.Obviously I'll find any leaks as or if they appear.
