I've spent lots off time and money on my Zed ,and il continue to do so, it's a bit alarming about the prices all over the place, and I know I'll never get my money back, but I've never heard a better statement than @pgunter (the value is what it brings you in life, not in your pocket)your so right, thankyou.
Jimmy.

@Jimmy Weston we are all here for the love of our Zeds. Be it what ever. We meet up, we make great friendships that last. The banter is legendary and the Meets.. well they go down in history. Those memories that are made can never be taken from you.

Here’s to more fun yet to come and friends we do not know...

At least you have a 2.8, I have spent a bloody fortune on a 2.0l but it gives me so much pleasure, only yesterday we whipped the roof off and 3 hours of roof down fun cruising the Lincs wolds.
Yep I agree with Gunter, top statement

@Sean d my first zed was a cracking 2.0 is Estoril Blue before it got written off in an accident. So then got the 2.2 which I love. Also was lucky enough to get my 3.0 for a good price. So happy days all round.

I was going to buy a 2.8 last Autumn but decided to keep the 2.0l as it has been sound and not given me one serious issue, however I get my pension when I'm 55, only 3 years to go and then I will be looking for a 3.0l or maybe an M/// if they have not gone through the roof.

Sean your Zed is stunning mate and there are people who would give their left nut for it. Its got nothing to do with the engine size, its about making the cars our own and enjoying them with friends. Plus you drive it like you stole and I don't remember overtaking you in the Peaks last year ;)

Whack on a supercharger mate, cheaper than a 3.0 or an ///M and as you've done all that work you know exactly what you've got. You'd end up putting a shed load into a new car to get it where yours is now.

Why the 2.2, surely the 2.8 is more desirable looking at current prices.
It's personal preference I suppose, but I'm happy to pay good money for a low mileage, non corroded 2.2, they do make the best noise of the bunch.

I prefer the facelift models, but as I said, each to their own.

@Sean d your cars looks mega ,in that colour and the boot lid mod you've done , I wouldn't get rid off it for a 2.8 ,it's personal to you and how you've made it , I know you want more power, and you can ,bye going down the route off manifold conversion etc ,on other posts, and I'm sure you will when you find the parts , and the time to do it,your cars a one off ,and something I know your very proud off,and so you shoud be..

Fair play mate, I guess going up hill the extra hp will play it's part. I think the only time I've ever pulled a gap between me and @Mint Dave in his 2.2 was on a steep climb out of a set of corners, all good fun :D.

I have a friend who is a car dealer. He sells quite a few 2.8s as he can still buy them reasonably and then sell them with a decent margin. He avoids 3.0 as they tend to be too much money and therefore no margin. Anything below a 2.8 he won't touch no matter how cheap, people just don't want them, even if they are very cheap he finds them just too hard to sell on at any profit.
I have 2x 2.8's, one a facelift 120k and 140k but both in good condition and I paid less than £800 each. You just have to be patient and be willing to travel a bit further and straight away.

The very best kept secret is the M44 1.9, dead cheap to buy a good, well speced one and as much fun as the MC, albeit in a different sort of way.:)

l think that the Z3 3.0 is still a bargain for what you are getting. Good ones seem to be available for around £6k and there’s nothing to touch it for that money except maybe the Porsche Boxster.
