Another great day at Zed Shed Midlands LTD.

Has been a very productive day. The zed was due a fluid change and @t-tony had kindly offered to assist with work space and tools.
Not being the best with my hands at the moment i wasn't really allowed to do much but mucked in when needed.
All oils changed Diff, gearbox and engine and topped up the power steering fluid, it has always had a fairly smooth gear change but this as made it silky smooth the diffs silent and the engine can bearly be heard at tick over so a great day.
Massive thanks tony your a top man and i appreciate what you have done today.

Got a ride in tony's Z4 with @Bozzy at the helm totally different car to the 3 but its looking great sat on its new suspension.
A big thanks to everyone especially @t-tony and thanks @Grumpy for dinner.
Hope the ride out in my zed answered a few questions for you @Bozzy
God those pics don't do me justice lol!!

I over heard that when the polish turned grey it was time to buff it off. Does that help ??:)

Tony.

Vss scratch and swirl remover then polished with Prima Amigo polish it just needs a wax /sealant now..

Good day had by all, :thumbsup:wish I could have made it, too busy laying a new patio  ( brownie points in the bag)
Rha,Roy,
All good in the end mate, see you next weekend? You can try a drive in a Z4 then. Eh lads ? :)

I liked it a lot. Really impressed with it. Effortless to drive and being auto I thought really suited the car. I'd say totally different car to the 3. The only thing that links them is the Z.

Had a top afternoon today at @t-tony's zed shed midlands ltd.
It was quite a learning few hours tbh with Tony making all the jobs look so easy and breezing through the jobs......I reckon he's had some F1 pit stop training .
It was like a job on the council at some points.....one bloke working (Tony) and three watching =)).
It was good to have a go on the d.a it makes light work of such a job and @Grumpy's zed ended up with a lovely depth of shine. If I ever do this job on mine i think I'll jack the car up and put it on axle stands to save on the back strain as I'd suffer as Dave did.
Then @Antm72 took me for a spin in his lowered and tuned zed.......crikey Jesus that thing gets down the road dam fast, sounds beautiful and gets round corners perfectly in shape:thumbsup: But doesn't feel harsh like I expected. Impressive.
So now I have another shopping list.......new suspenders,Powerflex diff bush and a nicer sounding exhaust.....but first some new front brakes as mine seem to have seen better days after last Sundays little pootle on @TaffZee's cruse  any recommendations Wellcome on brakes and suspension :).
Then I was honoured to take Tony's Z4 for a spin with Ant .
Had never driven a 4 and I did like it but it's so different to my Z3. The 4 is effortless just foot down and smile as it takes care of the gear changes, just no engine braking when you lift off the gas......so tried it in the tip tronic mode with sport button engaged.....i like this :D
you don't even have to lift off the gas changing up the box as Ant enlightened me :).
The ride felt a little harder than Ant's,both cars have lowering springs fitted for those who don't already know but Tony's already had ///M sport suspension any way so maybe that's why it seemed harder.
It was a nice treat to have been in both cars today so thanks lads :D.
Couldn't believe how the time flew past today :wideyed:....twenty to seven when I got home. Really enjoyed it though and we had some laughs :).

Steve

Brilliant thread guys. Sounds like you all had a great time. I'd love to join you on one of these days. Down in the New Forest ready for tomorrow now.

No, it's not difficult. I'm sure Dave has the pictures to show you?.

1. Jack up the car with the jack under the Diff.
2. Place stands under the rear jacking points under the sills.
3. Slacken and remove the nut and bolt which goes through the centre of the bush.
4. Lower the jack until the bush mounting aperture is below the mounting brackets.
5. Poke out the old centre part of the bush. (they are usually totally tired and fall out).
6. You then have to remove the old steel outer shell of the bush by cutting right through it in one place, then knocking it out with hammer and chisel.
7. Make sure there are no bumps or burrs in the alloy and assemble poly-bush.
8. Jack Diff. back up into position and replace and tighten nut and bolt.
9. Take weight of car on jack and remove stands from jacking points and lower car back to the ground.
10. Job done. Tea and road test (in no particular order);)

Tony.
Which is the best Bush to go for? Serious question... Mine is seriously tired I think...cant hear any knocking when the radio is turned up but I got to get onto it.. Excellent team work you blokes

We put a powerflex on mine yesterday. The knocking has gone and it did seem to drive much smoother or that could just be in my head as it's been bad for the last 4 years.

The knocking is something you more feel than hear.If you have a noise you can hear it may be something else.
The power flex is a good choice as it can be fitted by hand so can be done in situe. Oem would require removal and a press.

Can't beat a garage day with the lads. Wish I lived a bit closer to civilization =))

Well after I used @Antm72 da polisher yesterday he advised me to give the car a wax to seal the paint. So I have and heres the end result. I am chuffed to bits! The car was looking so flat, a few hours work and the difference is incredible.
