An Awesome Day!

Put the chequered flag out everyone!

My beautiful beamer got passed - passed - the finish line today! It passed its MOT test courtesy of ZedShed Midlands HQ and the great guys there that helped this damsel in a beamer in distress.

Many thanks to @t-tony, @Mint, @Rha and @Jjim for a cracking great team effort on Saturday!

Well done everyone :)

Excellent news

Not forgetting the airbag whizz kids for helping me @gookah and @g8jka - and teaching me how to use the airbag dash light reset tool - thank you. And Jemma for tea.

This is an amazing place!

Have you arranged the wheel bearing fitting yet Dawn?

Tony.

Powerflex do 3 different grades of bush. You have the correct fitment being for an E30 btw.

A road series in purple with ref PFR5-300. A 'heritage' option, same grade as the purple just black to be more discrete ref PFR5-300H.

And a track grade ref PFR5-300BLK.

Your ref is PFR5-300 suggesting road grade. But the packaging appears to suggest it's track grade - which I don't think you would want.

Short answer, if it's purple inside the pack no problem. If it's black I would query it to make sure it's the heritage one and not the track. The track grade could be quite unforgiving.

You may also be a hub nut locking ring short on the wheel bearing. Not sure - it's not what I've just removed from my facelift 2.2.

Yes - it's scheduled for next Wednesday but I'm calling first thing on Monday morning to see if it can be sooner.

Incidentally, since the thing - technical term - by the space-saving tyre was tied into place, the noise has lessened - still there but not as bad.

Do I need to go back with the PowerFlex box? It reads "Black Series" Designed for Track - Ready to Race on the packaging.

And what nut is missing?

Small type on side of box raeds: "PFR5-300 BMW E30 Rear Differential Mounting...

Purple is correct for road grade. But it seems to be in the wrong and consequently misleading box.

This is the assembly I removed from my car. But what you have may be correct for your car or may be perfectly useable as is. I think you'll have to leave it with your mechanic unless anyone here knows differently. It's just a heads-up to try and help avoid a possible delay for you.

The locking ring within the circlip on the left clamps the 6 (not 12) sided nut on the right on my car. The identical bearing is sold in many different kits for many different cars (incl. non BMW) with the only difference being the locking ring/nut.

Dave and I identified a metallic vibration from under the rear on acceleration, we noticed something hanging from the spare wheel tray and also the exhaust mounting on the axle beam was carrying no weight what so ever. We were planning on looking at these when we do the other jobs.
Roy said he had a "black" bush kit at home but we discounted it for the reasons stated.

Tony.

Hello both @t-tony and @mrscalex I've checked - the purple kit is for road and there is a missing nut on the bearing kit so a trip to return this kit and get the one with 4 components including the nut...a photo will follow either later or tomorrow.
The Heritage kit in black isn't one that ECP stocks but agree, it would be discreet in comparison to bright purple.

The black one is simply too hard and less compliment than the purple one. Not suited to road use.

Tony.

OK - the wheel bearing kit and the other that is stocked don't have this fourth component so they'll be going back.

I wouldn't bother unduly about the hub nut Dawn re using the old one isn't an issue..

Tony.

Good evening fellow Zeds. I hope you are all enjoying the weekend.
Update: I have the bearing booked in for Wednesday and am calling on Monday to see if it can be done sooner. I have the front tracking booked in for Thursday and am wondering if I should ask the tracking company to look at the rear wheels alignment at the same time - hence, my waiting after the bearing is fitted...will the rear wheels and tyres - always worn on the inners and perfect looking on the outer edges - benefit from tracking or not? Will tracking compromise the rear-wheel drive's performance in terms of road handling?
