Advice please

Hi Geoff, you can buy an oval chrome tailpipe cover from BMW for your car. Ask Them!

Mike

Hi Grumpy & Littlefeller
I have purchased the set with optional extra bits in the new lighter Burr Walnut.
American suppliers do different door items ie; wide band across top of panel and on top of arm rest, thin band round perimeter of speedo area and a panel across glove box.
Another question:
The tail pipe on my z is black oval, but cant seem to find a chrome or S/S tip to cover oval end, will I have to buy a S/S end section ? Any thought or reccomendations
Look forward to seeing the finished article.

Yes I will put some pics. on
BMW have come back to me and asked for VIN No. so should get a price soon

THANKS

Hi Littlefeller
BMW have now come back and said tail end discontinued.

Have you tried Sopers? They might be able to find one for you, alternative try Bmw eBay, that's where there selling off discontinued parts.

Hi Mike
Cant see from the Soper web site that they do parts only car sales and had no luck on Ebay so far

Hi littlefellar
On the subject of speedo surrounds BM Town do carbon fibre ones in black or silver £30 maybe they would consider a walnut one if enough of us asked, what do you think ? they also do lots of bling.

yes i have seen the carbon ones, one of the reasons i am making one is simply i am toying with the idea of switching my walnut trim for a birdseye maple like in the pic, would look great with my beige trim. i was going to make the walnut at the same time but if they could make walnut it would make it easyer for everyone else.

My order from the Walnut Dash Company should be delivered today, but when speaking to them yesterday about doing a speedo surround and to have a look at the BM Town site who do these but not walnut, so maybe if enough of us enquire who knows. Also mentioned that other firms do different items in there sets ie: different door trim, a strip across top front face of door panel and a piece on top of the arm rest plus a section on the front of the glove box.
Exhaust tail, still no luck, Sopers said no but I have located a short rear section box in S/S with twin pipes that give a better sound as mine just sounds like a standard car not like the nice sound from my TR4, but as one of you have said you can spend a fortune on these bling bits and one has to draw the line some where, but where is the question.

Why don't you get them hydro dipped? Would be a much nicer longer lasting finish...could have your wheels the same as well...

Hi chaps
At last got round to fitting the walnut trim, not the easyist job I have ever done, some could have been a better fit ie a bit big or a bit small. The piece for the ashtray flap is wrong and they have omitted to send 4 bits ie door handle surrounds and air vents on top corners of dash. I informed them of the problems and waiting now for them to phone back.
When I have got it finished I will put some pics on also of the car which is all sorted now just waiting for the S/S effect stone guards from Ian C

Look forward to the pics Geoff

At last I have managed to put a pic on of some of the walnut trim, does not stand out as much as it does on grey but to me it adds a look of quality to the trim. I am still waiting for 4 small items that they omitted to make/send and the ash tray section was wrong, made without the button cut out but will chase them again today, but Thanks Grunpy for telling me about this supplier who are also going to give me some material to make sections to fit on steering wheel.

Geoff
