Activity in the field this morning.

A bit late in the day but it looks like it’s started.:(

His planning is 3 years old next month so he has to start to do something before that date. Machines have now left. I'm wondering what the level of the water table is at that end of the field. Could be quite high when you look at the level of the lake.

Tony.

This morning there were around 10 people in the field at the far side of the lake who appeared to be measuring out and placing markers in the ground.
So we assume that something will be starting on the bloody great building that was passed 3 years ago to be built at the end of the lake. Which will no doubt end up being turned into a house for one of his family.

Will we have to have an emergency September Party to show them they're building on a parking lot????.......Frankie

So here’s the progress, and I will grudgingly give credit to the guys working on it, they were here all day Saturday and Sunday till 7.30 till 6.00.

Had to have a word with the truck drivers. They were coming in the gate at our end of the field and as soon as they turned in were lifting the sheet and clouds of dust from the limestone blew straight into the house, the as they left the were driving very quickly off site for the next load. So I stopped one of them outside our gate and politely asked him if he would leave the sheet till he was round the other side of the field and please slow down, he said sorry and yes he would. The word soon got round the drivers and they all pipped and waved as they crawled past the house.

They obviously all live together as they turn up 2 in one van and aren’t socially distancing.

I feel for you @t-tony and Shirl.
I din’t know the fishing numbers but he’s obviously relying on them to spend in his on-site amenities.

No, he’s not. He rents the fishing rights to my mate Neil.

Only a flying visit this morning to make sure no one had stolen 13 loads of concrete, Oh and one more 8 wheeler of lime stone dropped off and that was it.

Tony.

Get yourself a white safety hat, a high viz jacket and a clip board. Then just wander round their site taking photos and measuring stuff....... just say your an independent clerk of the works ...... that’ll freak them out !!!!!!=))

I mean he’s anticipating the fishing people to spend whilst on site. Drinks, food, merchandise, function room hire to hold related events possible Rotary/Round Table meetings, weddings receptions, etc. He’ll be thinking about it as a revenue generator.

Ah, see what you mean but I can't see people who go "Glamping" being into angling if I'm honest though. Regarding the revenue generating , well we'll have to see. There is no way they can run and sustain a "village shop" around here, many have tried not least Shirl and her mum. The problem being the local population will only want to use it in the bad weather when they can't go on a FREE bus into town to shop. Also the people from the next village have said they need a footpath between Fenton and Torksey Lock to be able to use the shop. Can't see that happening though. This is a very busy road where you would need to cross the A156 at least 4 times to get out of Fenton.

After the fishing match yesterday I had a wander down to the mini “Pitons” (St. Lucia) at the bottom of the field. It is going to be a fair sized building that’s for sure!
