And welcome from Canada William! Enjoy this insane bunch you've attached yourself to. JIM
Hi Jim. Nice to hear from you in Canada. Can't say whether l've joined an "insane bunch" or not as yet, as l only registered yesterday. However, it does sound as though you are speaking from experience!?!? l can only assume you are still having a lot of snow? What part of Canada do you live in and l also assume your Z3 is used primarily during the summer months? l live in Bangor, Co.Down which is 12 miles north east of Belfast. Talk soon and drive safely. William

You refer to yourself as Oldcarman and l dont know if that refers to your age? I'm coming 62 years and bought 'Bruce' when l retired in 2013.

And welcome from Canada William! Enjoy this insane bunch you've attached yourself to. JIM

William, I asked that same question a long time ago. Still waiting for a sensible answer. I'm still not sure if Jim is an "old" car man or an "Old car" man. Either way, this place wouldn't be the same without him.:)

Just to clarify, Bruce is a reference to 'Bruce' Springstein and his song ' Born in the USA'. As you know all Z3's were built in the USA, hence my pet name for my Z3. My MOT is due tomorrow so hope all will be well.
Ah the Boss make sense now. I was going down the Oz Bruce and Sheila and the Great White in Finding Nemo road. Im a bit boring just call mine the BMW in the Garage.
But thats all going to change soon it will be the BMW on the Drive:) as the sun is going to come out for a bit, or so I see from the weather forecast.

Still like the late Clarence Clemons. The "E" Street Band made Springstein.

Thanks William, trust me they're all crazy in one way or another and if you have a sense of humour you've come to the right forum. I live almost dead centre in Canada and the snow's not bad yet this year. I imported my car from the UK last summer and just this week purchased my second. I am old, 67 to be exact but have played with cars throughout my childhood. My wife says I'm still there so it must be true. Enjoy your car and get out to a couple of runs if you get a chance. Wish I could!! JIM

Photo's are really easy William, I learned how fairly quickly so if I can anyone can. I'm still picking up how to/not to do some stuff but it's fun trying and there's no detention if your homework's not up to scratch.=)) Have fun whatever you do.:)

Jim. 67 is not old as l am fast approaching! Sun forecast tomorrow so taking Bruce out for a run tomorrow. He has been washed today, inside vaccumed and windows polished. Fitted a new car battery last week and it makes all the difference. Lots of 'Va VaVoom!' Keep your snow shovel to hand. We had 1 inch of snow yesterday, which is very rare indeed in our part of the world. Melted within a few hours. William

I've sent you a message William regarding the handbook.

Cheers

Brian
Brian. Thanks for this. William
Hi William, welcome the the madhouse, glad you found us!!

The guys on here are very knowledgeable, you only have to mention a problem and someone will solve it for you!!

May have missed it, but can't see what colour your Zed is yet???

Mike & Sandy
Hi Mike and Sandy. I can already understand what you mean by the 'madhouse'. I have not posted any photos of Bruce, my Z3, as yet, but will attempt to do so in the near future. For your info, Bruce is Atlantic Blue with black leather seats. Really like the colours of your two roadsters. Very nice. William

Hi Tony, M&S and everyone else. Just to clarify where l live. I live in a seaside town called Bangor, Co.Down, Northern Ireland. I live with my wife Linda and a 19 year old pussycat called Sophie.
Bangor is approximately 12 miles northeast of Belfast at the mouth of Belfast Lough. Get your maps/atlases out and find it. Broaden your geographical knowledge as a result of newbie joining the forum.
By the way, Bruce failed his MOT today. The warning light on the dash to indicate a fault with the airbag was slightly illuminated. So slightly that it was not noticeable in daylight but just about noticeable in the darker environment of the MOT Centre. Thiis was enough for the examiner to fail the test. Has anyone else had this problem? Everthing else appeared to be fine. William

Hey William, the Air Bag light is a very common ailment and usually an easy fix by clearing the fault code with a code reader. One specifically for the Z3 is available on eBay for only about £12 ish. You could see if your local garage can do it as your test centres don't do repairs I believe.

Tony.

Checking the wiring under the seats for proper connections is also a good idea too.

Hi David. Nice to hear from someone from 'the Old Sod'. I live in Bangor, Co. Down and l see we both drive a 2.8. I love the engine and the drive but l have
never driven any other Z3, so l cant compare it to anything else. Where abouts do you live in lreland? Drive safely. William
Thanks, William, I live in South Down but would travel occasionally around the Ards penninsula. Hopefully we cross paths around summertime in our Zeds.

Best Wishes.

David.

Hi William welcome to the forum from another Co. Downite.

That's now at least three of us from the county on here plus Sailorbaz and his Z3M (who hails from Tyrone i think)

I agree with David, the Ards peninsula is definitely Z3 driving territory :coolsteer)

Hi David,
l live in Bangor and will keep an eye out for your Z3. It looks very distinctive. Bruce is a 1999 Z3, Atlantic blue in colour. Same colour as the Z3 in James Bond film 'Goldeneye'. Bruce passed his MOT last Saturday on a retest. I got the Airbag warning light sorted. Roll on dry and sunny days. Drive safely! William

Hi Daz999,
Good to hear from you. I love the colour of your Z3. Mine, Bruce, is Atlantic blue, same as the Z3 in Goldeneye. I will keep an eye out for your Z3 on the road. Toot your horn if you see me. Do you belong to the BMW Owners Club who meet at Junction One in Antrim each month? I am going to my first meeting on Weds 25th March at 7.30p.m., so if you are involved, we could say hello. William
PS Do you have a real name or is it Daz?

Hi Daz. Look forward to meeting up sometime. I really like the colour of your Z3. I can see your car is the updated model which is very nice indeed. Sorry to hear you have a few minor issues and l hope you get these resolved by April with the hope of 'sunnier days' and open roads with the hood down!
Sounds that ni-bmw you refer to is the same group that l hope to link in with. As you say, they meet at Junction One in Antrim. I know J1 as a large retail shopping environment, but do you know exactly where they might meet?
I dont want to drive to Antrim from Bangor next Wednesday evening and not find where they are meeting!!!
Regards, William

Hi William,

i believe that they congregate around the Costa / Starbucks area and if the weather is inclement they retreat to Costa.
Seem like a good bunch of guys with some quite special Bmw's. They hold an annual show at Carrickfergus castle car park on the last Sunday in August. I haven't been, as it conflicts with a cycling event i've done this last few years but i'm planning on heading to Carrick this year.

The minor issues are very minor, new shocks, realign rear bumper, replace air inlet hose, fit strut brace and do an oil service. All small things and easy enough to do thanks to the great guides on this site.
