Hi guys, I first got my Z3 and I was happy with the auto, wanted a manual but I'm in Victoria Australia and I had only my automatic provisional licence, Ive been playing around in all my friends manual cars and I finally decided to start on my manual journey however, I'm not going to buy a new car, or part ways with my car, so im manual swapping my Z3.

Info on my car,
-4spd auto
-1998 1.9L m44 motor (in car)
- I have an m44 motor with a getrag 220 (plan on building this motor while I put the gearbox in my original motor) 5spd manual attached to it which came out of a 318is. (With a slippy clutch)
- I have the 318is m44 ecu which I don't plan on using but is a good backup

My main questions are,
- will I need a new tailshaft for swapping the manual box onto the auto motor?
- what else do I need? Clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, tailshaft?? Clutch line, clutch pedal? Any and all info is welcome and I don't need anyone telling me "JuSt SeLl It AnD bUy A mAnUaL" I'm already committed and I have all the tools and manpower necessary to do it all in my garage.

Evening, your on the right track, the manual box is shorter so you will need the front section of the prop shaft. Clutch pedal, slave cylinder also the master reservoir to cater for the slave line. There will also be a connector tucked up out the way above the gearbox for the reverse position sensor. Gear linkage is another thing very easy thing to fit. You will also need the Getrag gearbox if you haven't already bought one. These are normally cheap as chips to buy.

Thanks! Yeah I got a getrag220 attached to my spare m44 I bought it's all still together as the guy who sold it pulled the motor and gearbox out of a 318is to do an LS swap.
