Went to use my Karcher K4 pressure washer today, connected hose and plugged into normal electric socket in garage - NOTHING!!!
Connected to different electric socket then checked fuse still nothing. Looked on line for Karcher pressure washer not starting. Came across a guy on YouTube who explained it could be a air lock in water feed. Basically shut off power, disconnect lance, turn on water and let it flow from hose, water flow spluttered a bit and then got steady flow.
Reconnected lance, switched on power and hey presto, pressure water working OK!!!
Seems there is some safety device which detects the air lock and won't fire up motor till cleared.
You learn something new every day.

Its good business if you can double the fixed price of a consumable product and then stop the customers using it but still collect the revenue.
Its corporate incompetence or worse.

I always do this ..
Similar to what you described.
When finished I disconnect the water supply , with power on pump out what’s remaining till empty , never had any issues.
Just prevents corrosion inside especially the pressure release valve which seizes (mine don’t do this anymore after replacing this part twice due to corrosion)
Also , If you don’t over winter it might freeze inside , then come spring you learn the hard way like me !
