It's a small world I drive past Douglas Park there often! I love Linlithgow as well been there a few times. I'll keep my eye out for you on the road.

It's such a fun wee car although can be a harsh ride on some of the rough country roads near me, but I think that's down to worn suspension components, mines specced with the sports suspension but I will be changing the dampers and springs and all the rest of it to standard and hopefully that'll make it a little less of a bone shaker.

Don’t use standard ‘lollipop’ bushes, the bush on the bracket at the rear of the front suspension arm, they don’t last, plus they allow too much suspension movement. Use the solid M3 type, or poly. Both reduce tramlining with no harshness.

I don't have a press can you buy them already pressed with poly?

I have actually read a lot about this and that bush looks very soft and has far too much play for where it is. No wonder the car drives on whichever part of the road it fancies 😂

If you don’t want to go to the trouble of refurbishing your existing ones cheap replacements without bushes if you want to go the poly route.

I would fit solid rubber ones have them in 2 of my zeds makes a big difference to the drive along with new springs and shocks as if original will be done.

Get them on Autodoc in my opinion better than poly as still has some compliance
Easy fit min tools would be a 16mm ratchet and sockets a hammer and a hacksaw do both sides less than 1 hour.

Been under 'Isla' all day changed the oil, coolant and transmission oil, treated the gearbox to some moly and the engine to some ceratec after a thorough flush. She's purring even more than before now.

Also put in a nice Blaupunkt stereo and did a amp delete and new speakers all round. The door cards on my zed are shot to pieces and several bodges in the past have made them unworkable so I'm going to need to source new/good used ones.

I checked underneath and it's in great condition generally, the front right has had a new wishbone but the shock is dripping oil 😅 so that's going to be the next job I think I'm just going to replace the entire front suspension and get her tracked nicely. I'm going to try and keep the m sport suspension setup as I like the profile it gives.

I really appreciate the advice from you all. Hope to meet some fellow Z enthusiasts in future!

For anyone interested, the car heater stuck on hot was down to a tiny plastic pin in the the heating controls. I managed to repair that and it works fine now 👍🏼

There are also some great meets over the year with 3 weekend long ‘runs’ in Scotland. These can be found in the ‘forthcoming events’ section of the forum.

I need to agree with @IainP on this one. I had my lollipops replaced along with a full front suspension overhaul at the same time and in 4 years they started to fail and another year on, my cars tracking is suffering.

Bought a set of solid bushes, as suggested by @Stevo7682 . Sitting in a box with a few other bits but I broke my shoulder 2 weeks ago so no car stuff for a wee while. ☹️

Bushes well worth the £40.
