It did demonstrate that Lewis only became competitive once the track conditions suited the Merc. Botas demonstrated he's normally only competitive because of the car, and just gave up.
When Max said “To be honest, 90 percent of the field could win in that car", he was probably right.
Driver of the day, Probably Vettel, with water taking away advantages of power, he's back on the podium.
Personally I don't think budget caps are going to level the playing field as there will be an awful lot of invisible money moving instead. Dyno'd engines with an "area below the curve" limit, would even things up. But Lewis on the top step is getting boring, even if this race did challenge that for a while.

Lewis Hamilton was one of the few that didn't spin when things were really rough, he kept out of trouble till the time was right
Yes the Mercedes is the cream of the crop don't think 90% of drivers could have done what Hamilton did last race (Look at Bottas)

F1 is a highly charged political animal, always has been and always will be. Teams have had prolonged purple patches since its inception, is down to the rest to catch up. The best attract the best, always have done.

Looks like a 2 horse race to the finish.
I'm thinking that George Russell has the World's largest smile having been parachuted into Lewis Hamilton's seat due to COVID-19. On the other hand, Valteri Bottas is under some pressure, should be an interesting weekend.
Call me a cynic, but I bet Mercedes turn the engine down, or tweak the aero on Georges car. We can't have the rookie matching Lewis' performance, or even showing Valteri up, now can we.

With Hamilton missing for 1, or maybe 2 races, that should chuck a spanner in the works I reckon.

for once, I'm actually looking forward to a race, one that isn't likely to be won by LH, and the chances of it being a Merc is possibly a bit iffy as well!
