Without his problems, Hamilton may have had the pace to be on the front row, but suspicion is that the long-wheelbase Mercedes is simply not as well suited to the tight and twisty Hungaroring as other, faster tracks.
Lewis Hamilton, who finished fourth in qualifying, speaking to Sky Sports: "It hasn't been the easiest or most straightforward weekend."
"We knew Ferrari were quick, we were aware of their pace. I think we did quite well considering. You can't overtake here, it will most likely be a train unless we do something with strategy."
