More points than I thought I'd get, keeps me in the game.

Restart and Alonso gets going again.

Hunter-Reay sneaks past him but that lead doesn't last long. Alonso takes it again.

Hunter-Reay has smoke coming out of his rear!

That's his race over and Alonso's closest rival is out of the Indy 500.
That could have been a great battle!

Nick Huges: F1 is great but there is no substitute for raw speed. That's what makes Indy 500 special & where F1's gone backwards.

Kenny Kong: Hunter-Reay broken down having led the most laps, Alonso could actually win Indy 500 in the McLaren Honda as a rookie...

Would you believe it? Alonso's engine blows. Ironic, to say the least.....

Huge cheer as Fernando Alonso climbs out of his car. I am absolutely gutted for him. He had the fastest average lap time in the race. Alonso gave it absolutely everything.

Alonso gets a standing ovation from some in the crowd as he climbs out and waves. He's done great.

Not the first time Alonso has been let down by a Honda engine - lovely cheer from the crowd though.
