How Brazilian GP practice unfolded

Summary
  1. Rosberg fastest in second practice
  2. Rossi spins, Alonso out
  3. Hamilton dominates first practice

Poor Fernando. This is the slump of a man who's desolate. I almost expect him to start thrashing his McLaren with a tree branch.

Basil Fawlty or Fernando Alonso?

Strange that not one of the reporters approached him to ask a silly question when he got back to the pits.

Notes on the grid

Valtteri Bottas has a three-place grid penalty and Daniel Ricciardo has a 10-place penalty.

That means it is a Ferrari second row - with Sebastian Vettel third and Kimi Raikkonen moving up to fourth.

Bottas shifting to seventh means he will line up next to his Williams team-mate Felipe Massa.

There could still be a punishment for Felipe Nasr, currently in P11, who obstructed Massa in qualifying.

  1. Rosberg wins, Hamilton 2nd, Vettel 3rd
  2. Raikkonen 4th, Bottas 5th, Hulkenberg 6th

  4. Maldonado handed penalty for collision with Ericsson
  5. Williams under investigation for tyre issue

What a snoozfest that race was.....:(
The Brazilian fans start chanting the name of Ayrton Senna, possibly entertaining themselves after a slightly uneventful race.

Eddie Jordan

Max Verstappen was beyond any doubt so far ahead as my driver of the day. Drive clean, be committed, plan your attack early on and he did that brilliantly I love watching him drive."

Max Verstappen, who finished 10th: "We were really lacking a lot of top speed today. It was a very tough race, I was attacking but there were people attacking behind me. To come away with one point was the maximum we could have done today I think."

David Coulthard

"Kimi Raikkonen is the fans favourite, he has a huge following, but he was massively behind again this afternoon. He is performing like a number two."

Felipe Massa on the investigation into Williams' tyre pressure: "I didn't feel anything wrong. My race was a disaster all weekend. I don't even know what's happened."
The FIA are currently in a meeting with Williams, they're having a chat about tyres. It's complicated, but essentially the rear tyres of the Williams were over the pressure threshold.

Lewis Hamilton, who finished second: "I had good pace you just can't overtake here. I killed my tyres and it is a shame because it is such a great track but you can't get close enough to race. It would be good if you could do a bit of overtaking here"

Can't overtake on this track? Might want to have a few words with Verstappen then.

James Allen

"Some vintage passes from Max Verstappen. He's got to be one of the drivers of the season!"

The Mercedes leaves behind it some very dirty air, if Hamilton couldn't get close enough to pass Rosberg I really couldn't see anyone else doing it.Hamilton makes a better attempt of catching and passing Rosberg on track than Rosberg does when he's behind Hamilton.
Either way we've gone full circle with DRS and passing is restricted to the midfield and backwards again.

I've had you in my sights for a while. :p

I am also missing about 30 points because the website failed to register my predictions in a couple of the early races. :(

Raikkonen ready to pounce?

The one to watch tomorrow? Kimi Raikkonen starts from third on the grid tomorrow. Only once in the previous six Abu Dhabi GPs has the race been won from pole.

Pirelli Motorsport

Kimi Raikkonen will be the only driver to have a set of new supersofts for the race. Could be very important. #AbuDhabiGP
