who kindly got his hands dirty changing the spark plugs in Dawn's 2.8. Top man, really nice to meet Carl and hope to welcome him back.
Secondly we got to meet DaveB (with a Z3) who also mucked in with helping hands and fetching the butties at lunch time.

As usual all the banter, fun and hard work was enjoyed by all of us. Thank you to everyone and we look forward to the next Shed get together.

Nice to meet everyone...................Frankie

Nice to meet everyone...................Frankie

One day Frankie, you'll be here to fetch the butties.;)

Tony.

ps. Did you look at those "Power Probes"? A bit silly importing something from the US but the price is right.

So then , I'm going to start gathering parts up for a future Zshed.
First up diff oil. I've read elsewhere that if you have one of those there "Slippy diffs" you need different oil to a standard version. Being a 1.9i doubt it will be anything but standard but is there a serial number to see or do I jack one rear off the floor and turn it to see if the car wants to jump off the axle stands

If you put the last 7 digits of your Vin. No. into the decoder Dave it will tell you if you have an LSD (not acid);) I doubt it will have to be honest.

Tony.

PM me the last 7 of your Vin Dave.

Tony.

Tony, how do you find out if the car has lsd?

It should be on the build protocol on a Vin Decoder Phil.

Tony.

Pretty sure 1.9 didn't come with the option. The 2.8 have 25% LSD

@t-tony When is the next one. I need to get my handbrake lever adjusted and would sooner do it with more experienced people on hand in case i cock up =))

Not sure yet Bill but I'll keep you in mind mate.

Tony.

Folks, I have purchased the rear caliper refurb kit that Mint used at the last Zedshed for my dodgy rear caliper. Are there any plans for a ‘how to’ to be written up describing how to do the refurb?I suspect this is going to be a continuing issue for many poor souls like me. Thanks in advance
Phil

We returned from the cruise route on Sunday afternoon with a slight whistle from my O/S/R brake so it's likely I will be doing this at some point.

Tony.

ps. Was going to be doing my front bumper job on Thursday, but, as it's likely to hotter 'n' hell it's been postponed for now.;)

The issue that I can’t figure out is how to stop the brake fluid just pouring out when I undo the caliper.
My plan would be to undo the caliper from the holder, use the pedal to push out the piston, but not all the way and then remove the brake line from the caliper. It’s here I get stuck. Do I clamp off the brake line, or bung the end or something else? No doubt once I do it, I’ll be fine at doing it a million times!

All you need to do what you need is a length of wood (like a brush handle) about 3 feet long and a pair of Mole Grips. Put the end of the wood on the brake pedal and push the pedal down till you feel the pressure. Then clamp the grips to the wood where they can be wedged against the seat to hold the brake pedal down. This is NOT about applying pressure to the pedal but merely moving the position of the piston inside the master cylinder so that fluid cannot run through from the reservoir. When you loosen the hose you will loose a very small amount of fluid (so place something to catch it or soak it up) but after that as long as the pedal prop is in position you will not empty the system, leaving just the one brake to bleed up. It is quite a fiddly job to get the piston and dust seal back into the calliper. Make sure everything is spotlessly clean when rebuilding too. Hope this helps Phil.

This what you're trying to achieve with the wood and mole grips.
