ZedShed active today with a visit from @bombur with his 2002 M43 1.9 for an oil and filter change and a quick look over to check things out having only had the car a few weeks. Oil change completed, quick check on Air filter revealed it as clean as a whistle, car not had a lot of use by previous owner by the look of things but has been looked after with only a few cosmetic issues to sort. Checked the brake pads, fronts getting a little low so they are on the list to replace, discs are fine. Oil leak at the front has worked its way down and drifted back along the underside, preety sure its the oil filter housing to block gasket failing as the cause. Priority on cleaning it up and replacing the gasket, so thats at the top of the things to do list followed by the brake pads. Looks like it needs a new aerial on the rear wing and a new grommit, looks like the top of the unit is broken inside the grommit so a used unit will be sourced to replace. Underside at the rear could do with a good pressure wash and some repainting, wheel arches will get the same treatment. Small amount of rust front and rear ends of the sills will also get some love later on. Car plugged into the Laptop and scanned for codes, no EML on so only expected to see old codes and sure enough there were quite a few shadow codes in a few of the modules, went through them and cleared them, rescanned and found no errors present, there was evidence that some of the cars workings had been activated so it has had work carried out in the past on things and diagnostics used to activate some of the systems to test them. Clean bill of health with no codes, will see if anything returns next time the car pays a visit.
Plans afoot to change the gearbox and diff fluids so we know whats in them, will be doing that on another visit.
