Zedfest feedback

Hello all,

I'd like to start this thread to find out people's opinions on zedfest.

I posted the following on another forum:
  1. I have to admit that although it was good this year (zedfest) I preferred last year.
  2. We were squeezed in like sardines (cars not really on show just parked up)
  3. It seemed that other marques of cars had a lot more space (perhaps they don't like BMW!)
  4. The area we were parked in last year was totally free (could we not have parked there or would bmwcc not allow it?)
  5. We invited other forums for a cup of tea and cake (in the name of charity) in which only a few turned up (miserable sods)
  6. it would be better if there was no grouping just all together in one place.
  7. Shame about the track parade, but you can't help the weather. If we had gone on at 6 as planned it would have been ok.
I'm not putting a damper on what was an excellent day out, but just giving my opinion.

I'd like to hear everyone else's comments.

It could help for next time.

I went for the first time yesterday. I have to agree, that compared to other groups, the Zs were rather squashed together! BUT I still had a good look and chatted to lots of you. I want to park my Z with you all next year and do the parade, weather permitting xx

Must say lookin at the pics you were all squashed in and parked on grass, a situation I wouldt have liked.Afterall at the prices they charge for entry I would expect better parking/show facilities.

I agree there seemed to have been an under estimation of the ammount of space required for us all or maybe other clubs around us over estimated resulting in us having less space who knows but please don't let us knock what excellent facilities that BMW and BMWCC laid on for us. I didn't see any other manufacturer offering free air conditioned tea & coffee facilities so hats off to them for putting on a good show.

I think this year we were placed right in the thick of it whereas last year we were a little out of the way of the rest of the show which was probably because of the shear numbers but we were certainly right in the middle of the action so to speak this year.

As we were so packed in this year I think you are quite right Mark there was no need for a parking plan as such as we were all with a stones throw of each other so it wouldn't have mattered really and if it means less politics amongst friends then I am all for it.

Overall a fantastic weekend enjoyed by all, Duncan & Iain should be very proud of themselves for all the work and commitment they put into it this year.

for us it didn't matter about the parking..it was in amongst other people i knew so i knew the car was safe...the hospitality suite was just on the doorstep.
i wasn't there to display my car..more as a spectator if im honest.
grouping in forums was a good idea in theory ,but in practice i don't think it worked so next year i think the lesson has been learnt.
getting us in the back route was a stroke of genius and made made for a touch of VIP status.
having read the reply by Iain C i can fully understand why things fell as they did and all in all think they did a good job of a situation that seemed a bit out of there control.
it is a shame that the lap didn't take place...but after last year's fantastic bit of luck, this years would have been a little disappointing in comparison if it had of taken place .
i was grinning from ear to ear all weekend so i was about the overall experience, not just about the odd little niggle.

I agree Wayne the grouping was a bad idea, and this was made clear to the relevant parties well before the event!

I hope it doesn't happen next year.

What annoys some, doesn't others. This will always be the way with events like this, and even some of the smaller ones. Everyone has their own expectations and desires, and also the things that wind them up. I'm not sure it's possible to make an event this size perfect for everyone, but I think it came as close as was feasible.

This year because I organised less Zorg specific stuff, it gave me more time to enjoy the event. I knew from Duncans emails about the BMW hospitality that I didn't need to worry about bring too much with me (although the boot was still full). The hospitality from BMW was incredibly welcome (particularly the aircon) but also were the offers of tea, coffee, cakes, sausage rolls from those who are very well organised! I have a sore throat from talking to so many people both at the hotel and the circuit, and there were still loads of people I missed out on chatting to.

I felt it was a much better location than last year being closer to the centre of the action. Things were a little more cosy than last year, but don't forget we were only switched to that service road at the last minute. We may well have ended up similar to this year, and would not have known any different.

Because like Swamper, I'm still buzzing from an awesome weekend it's hard to think of things that could be improved on... Oh yes I can, we all should have been given a free car :D and that we need a group buy of Gummi Pfledge to stop our window seals from leaking =))

The grouping was still wrong, and many people have said that.

Playing devils advovate here...

...as well as those parties being told that it was a bad idea, there were other people making it clear to them that it WAS a good idea. That's what I was saying about what works for one and not for another.

The Z4-Forum for example, had already decided that they were going to all park together, bring barbecues, gazebos, stoves etc way before they even checked to see if it was going to be ok.

The only way is to treat every attendee as a grown adult, and allow them to make their own choices on how they choose to enjoy their time.

I'm not really concerned with the z4 forums.

I think that .net, .org and the lounge should have parked together

One big tea party.

I could be wrong but I believe that it was suggested in the past for someone to liaise between the sites.

I agree it would have been a nice!

I agree with every word Wayne has put above, saves me typing my thoughts. :) We had a fantastic weekend.
