Reversed the old girl out this afternoon for a bit of a freshen up ready for the better weather and found this........

Thought the grinding noise as I reversed out was grinding brakes..... Not so!!!
The stance looks cool though!

Looks like summer fun in the Zed has been put back a bit for me now. :(

Unfortunately a new boiler and kitchen may delay how soon I can get her back on the road.

Not a happy bunny!! Lol!

That's what you call 'slammed' I think Fraser. One of the youngsters will be along soon to correct me if I'm wrong;). When my front spring broke on my 2.2, I couldn't tell, it was only the last coil:(. MOT man picked it up. Looks like yours has failed big time but it shouldn't be a too expensive a fix though. Good luck:thumbsup:

Sure there was a set of decent springs up for grabs on here very recently. They weren't a lot of money.

Struts and springs have reached the end of the road by the look of it, best to put in new both sides, shop around for the best price you can get. Trawl ebay and the online car parts people, Carparts4less usually come out with the best prices 1.9 struts come out at £88 a side springs at £57.92.Watch for their discount offers on car parts to get the prices further reduced by using their discount codes. Today the code is SPRING12 to get 12% discount.https://www.carparts4less.co.uk/
Should manage to get the parts bill down to sub £300.

Thanks for the reply guys.

I'll be looking to replace everything now I think.
I did the rear springs last year when one broke, but the front ones look a lot harder to do! I want to do the shock mounts too so I may save up for everything and do it all at once.
Absolutely gutted as I know I won't get round to it for a couple of months now. It's going to be sitting in the garage all sad, lop-sided and lonely now!! :(

@Mazza, I was down in Bognor a few weeks ago for a Soul Weekender at Butlins, if you've never been they're awesome!

If anyone has some front springs they don't want any more please let me know!! ;)

If you're doing the job yourself I have a pair of spring compressors that you are welcome to borrow as I don't think you're that far from me.

I replaced the shocks and springs on all 4 corners last summer and it's fairly straight forward, though some of the bolts might be a little tight so a breaker bar or a powerful impact wrench are handy to have.

P.S I did also ruin a brand new shock by using an impact wrench to tighten the nut that secures the top mount to the shock. So always good to have the correct tools to hand!

Thanks @Faheem!
I do have a set of compressors, but from what I've read I'd be happier using 4 clamps instead of just 2.
Can I let you know when I get the springs sorted?

^^^ +1, I have a set of very good condition standard front springs you can have but they are off a a six pot and I fear they will be too stiff for your car.

Nothing wrong with using the Impact wrench, just make sure when you start tightening things back up you have it on the lowest power setting. Then check for tightness with manual tools, ie socket and bar.

Tony.
