Just got a new daily drive to replace my Mazda 3, an Audi A3 1.4 TFSI 150, with the s-tronic gear box. It's so loaded with tech, I think I need a 10 year old to come and explain it all to me. The most amazing thing about it is that at general cruising speed it switches two cylinders off and you find yourself at 70mph doing 110mpg!

I tested the Merc A-class, BMW 180i and the Lexus CT as well and the Audi was hands down better for me.

Almost the same as what I have as a daily, although I went for the 2.0 TDI Sport. The S-Tronic box is superb, and I average just over 50mpg with it and it soaks up the miles way better than other cars I've had before. I was going for a 118d before I test drove this as I had a 120d SE auto some years back.

Be interested to see how the fuel consumption works out on the TFSI as no doubt diesels will be next to impossible to buy when this comes for renewal in a couple of years.

Finally, mine can more than keep up with a standard 2.8 Z3. Can't explain how I know that, just that I do :D

So far after just a couple of weeks general use I'm averaging 54mpg. The Cylinder on Demand system really makes cruising economical, and you honestly can't tell when it's on 4 or 2 cylinders without looking at the display.

Very nice, I had the manual saloon black edition with the same engine last year. Loved it, but changed to a BMW 118i this year when I wanted a hatchback. Mistake, the A3 is better in my opinion.
