Been off the scene for a few years with life getting in the way. Nice day today and no work tomorrow ( looking on the bright side of life) so sorted out the airbag light, MOT in 2 weeks. Seat out and redid all the connections + reset tool, all sorted until closing the bonnet, not catching down, cable stiff so removed the 2 catches cleaned, run wd40 down the cables still no joy.
Will see how much a new set is from BMW tomorrow.
How difficult is it to replace the lot eg. getting the cable back into the cabin

Been there, done that. Nice and easy, just take some time and be prepared to swear a bit. Was a bit fiddly getting the cable into the car from under the bonnet, but a bit of patience will help.
