Driving with a long beard gives you the same problem of hair in your eyes. Plating it or hair ties worked but looked rather "odd". Needed a pirate's hat to really pull it off, so off it came early January. Got to scare the wife for a day or two afterwards until she got used to my face again.
Same problem here @Murray Wall but haven't shaved it off completely for probably 15-20 years. Had the beard since I was seventeen or so and my new wife took quite some time to get used to it so grew it back again. Shaved it after my first son was born and he wouldn't come to me for weeks until it filled back in!!! JIM
