Z4 radio problem!

Greetings all
Just joined the forum, and have a specific issue. I have a 2003 Z4 I bought new with the Business radio w/ 10(?) speakers. Just had it painted a few months ago. When I got the car back, the FM side of the radio would only pick up a few stations, and those with lousy sound; the AM side wouldn't pick up anything unless I was right next to the broadcast station.
I've had 3 different shops look at it, including the BMW dealer I bought the car from, had an after market under dash am/fm antenna installed, swapped out the radio itself. Still no joy. The BMW shop couldn't figure it out after almost $300 of looking, said their best guess was something called the diversity module - a very pricy thing to buy/install.
Anyone else been down this road?

@snashrambler can't see anything on Google for a Z4 but I assume they are all similar, try this link, it may help?

Welcome by the way and good luck.

Could it be something as simple as aerial removed for painting and somehow was damaged during the process? I assume it was working perfectly before it went into the body shop. I bought a stubby aerial for my 2003 Z4 last fall and it works fine on FM stations, haven't even bothered trying any AM ones.

Tony.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. The FM antenna I'm told is in the rear bumper. I also have a stubby that worked just fine for AM reception.
Both AM and FM were working normally before I had the paint done - i'm assuming he shop removed the bumper for the paint prep work.

Thanks for the link, I've seen it and am not able to correlate some of the components to my car.
Nice pic of the Tornado.

Hi @snashrambler, :welcome: to the forum from me too in Staffordshire, UK. I would of thought the aerial was disconnected for the paint work and hasn't been put back correctly. Hope you get it sorted.
