£55 well spent on finding out the indy hasn't got a clue and wants to rip you off.
Yep, I reckon in the scheme of things I avoided a very costly relationship. Good call by the experienced hands. So now looking forward to getting the roof fixed soon and doing something with the tyres can't say I like run flats....I've saved all this money and immediately planing to spend more.... Yep I'm definitely smitten

All it seems quite remiss of me not to have posted photos of the car. So as prompted by Redline here's proof of my credentials as a Z4 owner. I relayed all events of past 48 hrs to my son this morning and he was delighted with outcome and suggested I become the permanent guardian. We decided I should go all in and buy it from him.
So we've agreed I am the new keeper and he's 3 grand better off. I now realise they are definitely habit forming but there's no health warning on the package.....
Apologies for the poor quality pics, it's an absolutely awful day here, and promise I will post more with the roof down very shortly.

What's most disappointing is that I think they knew exactly what they were doing. And probably have done it many times before.

Shame you can't make everyone aware of their business ethic.

So have inherited my sons Z4 whilst he is living in Australia and am facing having to get the car repaired due to EML coming on and cylinder(s) misfiring, and the electric roof not working. Havent driven the car at all yet and being from an older genration when my previous sports car was an MGB GT some 30 years ago I am a bit unsure on how i'll get on with living with the Z4 on a daily basis. Have got an independent BMW specialist looking at the EML issue and they are quoting £600 ish for the roof if its just the motor and the hydraulics are OK. So this is not the ideal start to a new motoring marque but i'm trying to be positive based on the love my son has for it.
The cars a 2006 2.0si with 83K on the clock in Black with cream leather interior and does look a beautiful car.
Ive sold my wife on the idea of top down motoring fun for the summer so have some time to get the car sorted but everything dependent on getting the EML and roof issues sorted.

Any one with some reassuring words and practical advice most welcome
Welcome to the forum from Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. It seems to me that whatever problems you currently have with the car, you've overcome the most difficult and main one when you got the wife to agree to travel with the top down. Everything past that is a piece of cake.........................Frankie

The saddest thing is Mike they're more than likely aware of their ethic.
You're well out of there to be honest because that was little more than a rip off.
Like the car colour combination. Shirl's Eos is very similar and they look very nice on a sunny day with the roof down. Out in the garage playing with the Z today.

@MikeH54 glad to hear you managed to get the coil packs sorted yourself and now know what that garage are like.

Hope you manage to get the roof motor sorted.

Now that the car is under new management, I’m sure there will be an even bigger grin on your face and that the tinkering bug is more likely to take hold =))
