Cheers @billz i think that tells me all i need to know. Thanks.
Coming from the M44 you will notice a massive difference going to a 3.0si and to be honest you would probably bond straight away but we went from a 231bhp to a 265bhp and yes you could tell it was quicker but only just. The thing the Z4 has over the Z3 is that it is effortless to drive and you wont know you have taken a corner too quickly untill you are in the hedge the Z3 you know when you are on the limit

The Z4 looks really good in Alpina trim.

Great descriptions on comparing the two (in the hedge) :nailbiting:

I too didn't bond with our Zed 4:(. I did give it a chance but not 2 years:whistle: It is as you say Bill a different beast and drives totally different to a Zed 3. Like your comment about ending up in a hedge. Reminds me of the same sort of thing when we had an XR2 on Pirelli something or other. Stuck to the road like glue so if you did get it wrong you were the other side of the hedge before you could say Ahhhgh.

I actually had a look around a Z4 3.0 SE today, just passing this garage and it was on the forecourt, 2003 90K at £4700 but front end was covered in stone chips and doors had Tesco rash otherwise ok. Sat in it and as a few people have said a totally different car to the Z3. It feels too enclosed even with the roof down.

Yet i think it feels roomier than the Z3 inside. I have to admit the Z4 sports seats are a lot better than the z3 they are a lot more comfortable

I've been sat in the passenger seat of a Z3 for the last 5 hours, and it's just so cramped in here. Nowhere to rest your arms, nowhere to put anything. Seat won't recline enough for a nap, wind noise in my left ear with the roof up. Sport seats are making it marginally kind on my bum so far...

Only another 2 hours till I escape back in to my 4...

When i bought my Z3 it took a few attempts to set the seat up right, bad back until then.

I drive loads of cars, all with different seats and rarely have a problem with any of them. May be I've got enough natural cushioning on my ample posterior to negate such problems ?

Saying that though, I've recently taken my sports seats out of my Zed and put the original seats back in. The missus doesn't moan so much now either =))

I've never really been attracted to the Z4 roadster, but the Z4 Coupe is most desirable and is a nailed on future purchase

I find that once I put the heated seats on I float out of the car, really sooths the lower back. That said, the position I've found is the most comfortable of any car I've owned.

Maybe i should look for a 2.8 with all the whistles and bells, need more oomph.

I like it mate though I can't speak for the Z4 or the Z3 3.0 which would obviously be faster across the range but the 2.8 is no slouch. For me though it's the in-gear torque that puts the smile on my face, oodles of it and effortless.

I agree, i drove @miller1098's 2.8 earlier this year and found it totally different to mine.

I suppose it's what you're after really. I bought mine just for the looks (wheels, colour and interior) it just happened to be a 2.8. Love it :)

If my Z3 had been a 2.8 or a 3.0 I probably wouldn't have even looked at/for a Z4. But now I've had this car for a year and a bit I wouldn't go back to be honest. I really love my Z4.

Tony.
