I have the product spec for the E89 that includes a good description of the hardtop system.
The only catches I can see are those on the cowl above the windscreen.
Lots of sensors that are used to control the various hydraulic valves, but no more catches. I can only assume that the pressure in the hydraulics is sufficient to keep the various components locked in position.
There are quite a few cables and lines running around the system. These can be seen with the roof partially open/closed. It could be one of these that is rattling around when not under stress.
