#ZedShed Z4 Coupe Journal

Lee, one thought, your not predicting this summer is going to be awfull are you by buying a hardtop?

Mike

Love this Z4 coupe model Lee ever since I saw the first one, only it just don't pip the 3, but I wouldn't say I wouldn't have one, well at least your back in a Z and you'll be adle to jump in it and drive to Scotland without even looking under the bonnet., lot to be said for the reliability of a BMW, even the older ones, only check mine once a month, and just check the garage floor in between.
Roy.

Very happy for you Lee, lovely car. That TVR did worry me being so powerful and light but at least you can tick it off the list. Supercar pace and supercar running costs I guess...

So now this Z4 concerns me a bit too, seeing as it can be described as 'economical, practical, German and a hatchback, isofix etc etc'

Glad to see some mods are already under way and just to make sure it doesn't stay too sensible I'll leave this ideas here:

This Capristo switchable system will no doubt be expensive but gives a good idea of the sound possible:

Then I found your long last Italian cousin, seems he also has difficulty going in a straight line I'm very impressed at the TVR-like noises this engine makes with no cats and mufflers:

Lee, love it welcome back mate=)) niece looking Coupe sat in one recently and liked it:whistle: but I just can't get rid of Zelda:(

Just started taking delivery of parts I've been ordering:

Brakes: I opted for uprating the current setup, because the discs themselves are huge. I went with some EBC discs with Yellowstuff pads for those track days.

I'm chomping at the bit to take delivery of my wheels too:

With these I will be keeping the current setup of 18" 225 at the front and 255 at the rear. These should be with me this week sometime.

I'm also waiting on my stud kit from the states, these will look so cool against the wheels:

Those disc and pads are like something I've never seen before. Really nice

It's a cracking car for sure! I was surprised how much more grunt the N52 engine has over the M54B30 in my old Z4. Almost on a different level in terms of how the speed builds up and so smooth with it. My all too short blast down the road brought back some fond memories of the Z4 I had. The comfy seats, decent driving position, the awesome chassis...
It doesn't take long to like that engine - Turbine smooth and quick without being a complete and utter handful when its wet. Huge fun and I bet the tin top makes handling a whole lot better too.

Your interior is the same as mine - champagne nappa and piano black dash. Rare and nice.

Sometimes Z4 interiors can look a little basic without the extras.

Looking forward to reading more updates.

You know it feels like a #ZedShed day when you're in the Zed Shed (tm). Actually from last night, but I've only just got time to get the pics off my phone.

Upgraded Brakes - EBC USR discs and EBC Yellow Stuff Pads. Lee is serious about stopping!

Original in place

A hint of yellow! Ignore the direction of the grooves - we switched them around after realising...

Racing Stud Conversion - Because Race Car :D. A little drop of Loctite and screwed in to the hub and tightened with an Allen key.

All together now... (apart from the direction thing).

The apprentice gets a go with the big discs and pads - responsible for fitting them the correct way round =))

New exhaust tail tips. Made and sold by a chap on the Z4-Forum called Machine Monkey IIRC. Utter bargain for £35

Following on from this we had to take the front bumper off to change a Xenon headlight ballast, and take out a blown bulb. I'll cover this separately in it's own thread. The bumper is a doddle to take off!

Yep, it is Machine Monkey, some nice bits those tips aren't they?

Tony.

I kept thinking of Metal Mickey, but that's something completely different...
Yeah, he's on here Gaz.;) Those brakes, maybe ought to be on my radar, and they look good too.

Tony.

Actually not as expensive as I thought quality performance discs and pads would be, but not my place to say how much obviously. Not sure on the size of the standard Z4 discs, as I think the Si's are bigger up front.

They may be Gaz, I can ask in the morning.:)
