Z3 Urgent Help Required

Hi and welcome Lizzie.
The parts an auto box controller if ive looked it up correctly unique to the zed and the 2.8 narrowing it down alot for a replacement.
Has it packed up completely ? Whats happened ?

Hi There.

We took it to a garage after the gearbox gained a problem. They sorted gear box out but the existing ECU had blown. They replaced it with the wrong ECU, and threw the existing one away. The car only drives now in sports mode and won't hit 4th gear. It appears the existing incorrect ECU is sending wrong messages to gear box. BMW informs us that the part number we submitted is the correct one for the car. Unfortunately it is discontinued hence us trying to obtain a used one from a breaker or wherever.All I want is to get my lovely Z3 back working properly but it seems luck is against us.

The garage will not admit fault they sent my car to a gearbox specialist who fixed the gearbox problem but was not paid so he said he was holding onto the car at this point I seriously lost it they were just blaming blaming one another and we were caught up in the middle.We did at one point threaten them with legal action after being messed about for five months but that would incur more money. In the end my husband went and got the car.So unfortunately we are where we are.

Thank-you so much I cannot believe how lovely and extremely helpful people are being on the forum.Don't know if this is any help but the original code for the sender unit is 24.60.1.423.845.BMW have said this part has been discontinued hence my cry for help from you guy's.

Unfortunately its come up negative tried on line German /American Ebay and the local breakers its just not availible
Its like looking for the proverbial needle in a hay stack !!

Good find . Steep but by today's standards, could have been a lot worse

I would not get a second hand one would go for new, then you know its going to work.. I would speak to them first though to see if they are pre programed! for your car.

I would imagine it needs coding but as its the only car it fits it may be ok, it is steep but not as steep as a new car and unfortunately there is no alternative.
