My 3.0 came with what I believe is a genuine factory towbar. I'm torn between removing it because I don't like them/won't use it and keeping the car original as it possibly left the factory with it. There's an extra removable panel on the rear bumper too - I think the ball is only fitted when required. I don't know if that's a factory variation or a mod. I can't see a tow bar bumper on realoem.

The assembly referenced by @jonco above appears to be the complete unit and is approx £450. Not as much as I thought it would be. I don't know if any other parts are required. I've not studied it closely on my car.

That price does amaze me thought it would be far more - availability may be a problem.
Installation instructions would give more clues as to what else is required.

I thought it would be like £2k. And perhaps it needs other bits that make it more. But I checked on 2 different dealer online shops including one in mainland Europe in Euros and that’s the £ price.

my daily drive is a CLS 4 door coupe AMG and i just carnt get one for that as they are just not made and merc do not advise you pull with one for no apparent reason but just need to pull my 16ft speed boat so if i can get one for the z3 would be great
thanks for the info and if you are wanting to sell yours please let me know

i will try to contact these today thanks for that
I'm not sure you can buy from the people who run realoem. We all tend to use it purely as an online catalogue of parts.

Give your local dealer a shout as it will be expensive to ship anyway. Sopers of Lincoln and Cotswold BMW will both give 10% discounts to forum members but you'll need to collect otherwise the postage will negate the saving.

See my other message. Start with the BMW dealer as they will all most likely just draw the part off centrally from Germany so have the same access.

However some BMW dealers are clueless unless it's for a car under 4 years old. Soper and Cotswold are both very helpful if you need advice.

If you decide to call Cotswold BMW in Cheltenham ask for Ross Hands and tell him Robert in Swindon with the Z3 loom sent you ;) Very conscientious and helpful guy.

You'll probably cause head scratching wherever you go (re: what other bits you need) but I think Ross is more likely than most to search out the correct answer for you.

just got a reply they say they don't do one lol will keep trying
Guessing they probably stopped making them then, probably not a surprise bearing in mind the likely incredibly small market.
