Z3 replacement windscreen

Just got the front windscreen cracked.
My Insurance Company wouldn’t cough up for a genuine BMW Original windscreen so I had to accept a copy. Previously I have heard that Pilkington windscreens do not fit properly as they don’t have the correct curvature at the top corners.
I was pleasantly surprised when Auto Windscreens of Southampton fitted a FUYAO Windscreen with a new sealing rubber and it fitted PERFECTLY.

Had ours replaced back in 2015 by local main dealer as insurance prefered company would only supply their own make.
My insurers ( nfu ) increased my excess by £10 to use my prefered supplier.
On the quote the dealer had included for the 2 chrome surrounds as they considered they would need replacing , but during fitting they decided to use the originals ,still needed the new joining clip.
What struck me as odd was while the windscreen and fitting were available overnight , the new wiper blades were on 8 delivery back order.
They needed changing so used Bosch as normal

Different insurance companies have different ways of dealing with this problem. The windscreen on my Coupe cracked a few years ago and the insurance company (insured through Manning at the time) said I could either go the Auto Glass route straight away or if I wanted an OEM BMW screen (which I did with green tint band at the top) I could get it fitted at BMW dealers and they would reimburse me but the excess was higher at £100 instead of £60. Cost £831 all in but I retained the originality. Funnily enough I discovered that the windscreen had been replaced by a previous owner at some point but they had fitted the wrong seal (a roadster one) the Coupe ones are different at the two upper corners where they blend into the roof rails on the Coupe.
