New to this forum... I had to fix the accelerator cable so I needed to remove part of the lower dash. I've seen a few old posts about removing the trim screw caps that ended up damaging the caps. I found that a tiny screwdriver like one that comes in an "eye glasses tightening" kit is good for loosen and then removing the caps without damage. I slide the tip in a couple times under the cap in several places and then pop it out. You can place a slightly larger screwdriver under it for leverage to avoid damaging the dash. Works for me.
