Bit of help please guys. The stitching is coming away in a couple of places on my rear window with a small amount of water ingress (now bodge taped up). Will a new window fix this (need one anyway) or is it a new roof?

When i had my rear window replaced the chap that did it replaced a couple of stitches around the window and put a few in just below the window where the hood was very slightly frayed but not leaking and they don't show. so i would think you don't need a complete new roof,just a new window fitted by some one who knows what they're doing.

Thanks. Saves Father Christmas trying to ram a new roof down the chimney, and more to spend elsewhere:whistle:
 
Sorry but I disagree, the stitching and the contact cement have both let go. If the stitches were tight on the outer zipper you wouldn't be able to pull anything but the unglued top from the zipper section. If your window is still clear with no cracking I would remove it by removing the small metal covers at the joint and separating the zipper being carefull to not damage it the window. Then you will be able to use a stitching tool to restitch any loose areas. You then would also need to remove any residual glue before re gluing around the resewn areas. You'll need to hit up eBay for the zipper pull to put the window back in. I found the same problem on my car but not only was the thread rotted but also the outer material of the zipper. As I planned on changing the colour of my top I removed the window completely and now have my new top which needs to be installed soon as I need to cover up with a tarp when it rains. HTH JIM
