Guys new were and iv been looking at around a 98 to a 2002 Z3,i know a lot of what to look for body wise and paint etc etc the easy stuff but what is the one thing or more i should look for when buying one of these cars?I would like to get one with less then 100,000 but no deal breaker with miles if it is a good price.Should i check for rust in a certain place, engine, certain trans etc. I do want a 6 cylinder a 2.3 or up is alright with me.
A little info please guys will be very healpful on anything to look close for. Would like to have a auto but would take a standard no problem.

Good to see you open minded on the miles. Here's why :)

You really need to consider your question in 2 high level parts:
  1. What spec is the best for you
  2. What to look for in terms of condition.
(2) will be further informed by if you are prepared to spend money putting things right and then whether you want to do the work yourself or if a garage would be doing it.

My simple advice is find the nicest looking car, with a good service history, for the least money and take it on the chin you'll need to spend £1,000 replacing suspension and brakes as they nearly all need that unless it's been through the hands of an enthusiast or very careful owner.

I'm going to be selling my 2.0 shortly. New sills, shocks, springs, track rods, wishbones, rear pads/disks. Probably spent a good 2k this year getting it good. Feel free to message me privately

Hi @graveyard Z3 auto are fairly trouble free i had a 2.0 Z3 and now have a 3.0 Z4.
You have coveted pretty much all you need to check, anything you can see really. As mrscalex says with the age of these cars expect to pay a top price for a very nice example or pay out a lot on a lesser car after you buy, which is fine if you have the time and knowledge to do your own repairs. Good luck which ever way you go.

Tony.

Dont get hung up on mileage, some of the best maintained zeds have over 100000 on the clock. Condition condition condition
