Hi mate welcome, your car looks great!

Bilstein didn't do any coilovers. If I was a betting man I'd say they're Bilstein B12, in which case the springs will be Eibach Pro which can be bought separately. Usually the dampers go before the springs

I spoke to Demon Tweeks last week who said they didn't make coilovers, but my car certainly has them. The shocks seem in good condition and the ride is fine, but the springs are corroded along with various bits underneath the car, poss just surface but would like to replace or scrub and treat the various components affected. I plan to keep the car for weekend / rare occasional use. I plan to keep the mileage low also so it will probably be car shows and a euro road trip once a year. For now I would like to get her as clean underneath as she is on top. The springs have stumped me tho as there are lots of Eibach springs available which are what I would like to go for, but I'm not sure if the ones I am looking at are for standard shocks or coilovers. Forgive me but I'm an electrician and cars are a hobby so do not claim to be a mechanic. Petrol head since I can remember, now nearly 40 but still no mechanic. Hoping by joining this forum I can find the answeres I'm looking for.
I will get under the car again soon and have a proper look for any numbers on the shocks to give some clues. Like I said, Go gentle - thanks for the reply

Follow up, still getting used to the forum...
Have just been reading other threads and my rear suspension is a shock with seperate spring beside, does this mean I have coilovers front but not rear? Certainly have bilstein shocks of some sort front and rear and I'm 99.9% sure the fronts are coilovers, but now questioning the rears.
Can anyone tell me what to look for to confirm setup? Thanks again and sorry to those of you who sees this as obvious.

What you have described sounds like the standard set up, some people have fitted coilovers to the rear but I have no experience of them. There are various aftermarket springs and shocks that can be fitted.

Well they are definitely "coil overs" on the front end Jon, no doubt. Are there any identifying marks left on them mate.

Tony.

Can't get under enough to see anymore for now. Will have a better look at the weekend unless the week improves and I find a spare eveing. It's the rear springs that concern me most right now. The car is in lovely condition inside and out, it's when you get underneath things go bandy.... Its going to be an on going project as fallen totally for the car. She was garaged first 14 years of her life, but the last owner retired to a smaller place and lost his garage so the car sat outside for 4 years only doing 2k per year. I imagine his mechanic told him he needed to spend some money or get rid. He said the car needed a good home with a garage, now I've seen underneath in more detail all starts to make sense. He was a really nice old guy and the car on top is a credit to him. My aim is to get the underneath back and have her for many years to come. What are your thoughts on the rears? Thanks

The rears also have been lowered, you can see the height adjusters under the rear springs. My Z3 had a similar set up albeit the K&W brand which had been fitted when I bought the car. I would be inclined to replace all of that with Bilstein front shocks and Eibach springs, problem being you'll need new front upper mountings complete. The rear Bilstein rear shocks I would be tempted to re use as they don't look that old.

Tony.

Hi, welcome from Mansfield.

Great looking car, and love the steering wheel.

A lot of people seem to have gone for the Bilstein shocks and Eibach Pro spring kit.
