Today we put all the arch liners back and rebuilt interior door panels and locks.IMG_1441.JPG

The rims have arrived so just checking they fit before we put the tyres on..
IMG_1442.JPG

Started to remove the seats to do the seat bushes which I got from the forum :)

IMG_1448.JPG

Still have a lot of things to do including rear screen-radio etc.
Still requires final clean and polish but here are a few pics of how she looks at the mo..

IMG_1454.JPG

Front end coming on :)

IMG_1453.JPG

17 inch Borbet cw4 wheels with Uniroyal rain experts on.
Lots of debate on tyres I have read but these are well under rated and brilliant in the wet
and at 43 +vat each bargain !

IMG_1455.JPG

Starting to get there but a few more days work left to finish it off so tomorrow seats to finish
Radio reception and radio head to fit, then rear screen to fit if we have time....

IMG_1458.JPG

She needs a name I think....

Got the screen out as badly scratched.

But its been a nightmare as the start of the zip on the roof is in poor condition.

IMG_1464.JPG

Also the bottom corners of the roof trim have ripped slightly and we couldn't zip the zip !
So bit of sewing went on lol.

IMG_1462.JPG

got the screen to eventually zip in but got to repair the bottom corners then add a grey stitch
where its missing and then finish the outer trim n hopefully it will look ok.
IMG_1467.JPG

Also got the badges and plates on and fitted some night breaker white light bulbs.
IMG_1469.JPG

Trying to finish rear screen is next job.....

Nice to see another red zed looks great.
Looks lots of hard work done on it although mines a 97 it's paint is immaculate for its age still on original roof and back screen, i am keeping mine as original as possible just replacing the occasional parts that show signs of wear probably not to everyone's taste but start modifying would be costly for the cars actual worth and where does it end. its a struggle sometimes to try to keep it maintained as not mechanically minded and garage costs can be expensive.
Nice to see all your hard work has paid off.

I agree @Tracy Dee but as long as cars have been built people have changed things to suit their needs, most times at great expense, but I'm not changing a lot on mine either, just enjoying it. Had my years of custom cars, trucks, etc now it's time to drive the wheels off!! JIM

Thanks for all the comments appreciated.
I wasn't looking to even buy the car it just happened on impulse.
I am very lucky as apart from the paint I have been able to do myself.
All in all buying the car and completing all the restoration and mods has
cost approx. £4500 so I am happy with the end result as I drove it today
with a big grin :) great feeling with the roof down n sunny
I spent all day today finishing off and cleaning so below are the finished Pics.
Out tomorrow for a spin
IMG_1474.JPG

Finished the rear screen today a bit more sewing and fettling..
IMG_1478.JPG

Wax on Wax off....

Finally finished with a restore time of around 200 hours approx. on and off !
Thanks for looking

Don't know how I've missed this thread! Really interesting read, had mine painted 2 years ago. I'm replacing my roof next year and will be going for mohair. Bit of a trek but a lot talk of a company in Crawley. £350 ish I think and their work is meant to be excellent. Ooh and welcome aboard from Mansfield.

That would be much closer for me. Please post how you get on with the roof.
