hi
Lots of pictures please
Hi Mazza, cracking that exhaust at the bottom of the manifold was a bit tight, on the ground and with the bolts partially seized required a lot of plus gas and wire brushing, then rattle gun and they were off, undoing exhaust manifold nuts was awkward in situe, as all seized, again had to use plus gas again, off though now, hoping to take off the coolant hose on rear of the cylinder head tomorrow, then assuming all ok lock cams and pin flywheel

regards

Sean

That looks really cool, but isn’t it dangerous driving with the bonnet up :whistle:

@Sean Hilton
Do you have the engine timing kit ?
2 pieces pin to lock bottom end and the other piece to lock the cams up.
If you have any questions about this job shout out help if can as I did this last year.
Here is a tip that could help
When you remove the chain tensioner from the engine get a container put oil in it and put tensioner in it ( will help keep it filled).
Stephen.

Hi Steve
Yeah have lockng kit, so ok there, I got it as a non runner, well that's not actually true, it ran, but coolant pressurized really quickly, bubbling in expansion tank, don't think it actually boiled over as previous owner just stood car up.
I picked up another head just in case and rebuilt that, it might just be that gaskets shot, but got enough bits to rebuild
Yeah will probably give you a msg if ok as I strip down, I usually work on high speed diesel (heavy plant) so engine is a bit small and fiddly but got bit of spare time so hey hi

Regards

Sean

Afternoon All,

well a bit of nice weather ...!

cracked on with my headgasket this morning, all fairly straight forward, other than trying to lock the flywheel with the pin, was a tad tight to get in, once head off, noticed all creamy at no 3 pot, suspect it blown there, and all head bolts seemed loose ?

anyways need to check block face and clean, clean out all the head bolt threads, and then go for assembly, should be fun remembering how it all goes lol, noted that cooling pipework appeared to have been leaking ?

will keep you all updated

Afternoon Stevo

Yeah got new head bolts and gasket set, just going to clean of block, i will check it with a straight edge, and clean out head bolt threads with a bolt chaser.

That coolant fitting on the rear of the block looks like it's been weeping for a while so will have a look at.

I have a rebuilt head, so will be fitting that, so will be doing that in a couple of days hopefully
