Hi Guys, This is my first time on Zroadster, I own an x reg z3 2ltr . I am the ripe old age of 86yrs and love driving the z3 . I have owned three z3s over the last 20yrs , my current one was bought at a police auction , and although the mileage was a bit high 150.000, The car ran perfectly for two months and then went into limp mode . It has been to two different garages . The first one said it was throttle body this was replaced with a second hand one and the car ran perfectly for 10 miles then went into limp mode. The second garage replaced the disa valve which did not cure the problem, the latest is I have found a garage who deal with vehicle electronics and have said if they cannot find and cure the fault there is no charge . So hopefully win win . Will report the outcome Cheers

Hi Mac welcome to the forum. You're never too old to enjoy these great little cars and I'd wager at least 90% on here are 50+.

Where are you located?

I'd lay odds on it being the inlet camshaft position sensor which is at fault @mac77 .

Tony.

ps. Welcome from me near Lincoln.

Had the same issue on my 2000 2.0 Z3. Easy to change too.

Tony.

Hi @mac77, :welcome: to the forum from me too in Staffordshire. I changed the camshaft sensor on my 2.2 a few weeks ago and the difference is night and day. Good luck sorting your problem out:thumbsup:
