The front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows must let at least 70% of light through.
Good to know. Got this image of internet.

Looks like I will consider the 70% for the sides and 5% for the rear

My local place won’t put any tint on the side windows at all. Their reason is that the window has tint already so the percentages of the film will in fact be increased when applied.
I asked for a very light tint in that case but they refused completely!
How does one measure the percentage of light coming through and importantly how do the police as it tints look so different depending on Car size, interior/exterior colour etc.

Local place quoted me £39 to do the rear hardtop window, and refused the front sides for the same reason you said above.
The police have a device that goes over the edge of the glass that measures the amount of light going from one sensor to the other through the glass. This then gives a reading on the opacity. They then decide whether to give you a fine or a verbal warning.
Not that this has ever happened to me in a previous car

I recall hearing the limit is 13% reduction is the limit. That isn't very much if that's the correct figure.

I had tinted side windows on my Merc 300ce and got pulled by the cops on the M5 near Gloucester. They shone a light meter through my windows and told me to pull the tint off there and then if I wanted to carry on with my journey.
They didn't tell me how much too dark my windows were. Incidentally the windows were tinted when I bought the car, and I wasn't aware they were illegal.

Looks the biz with it on Toby, not a huge issue to remove it though?

Tony.
Not really - takes about 15 minutes IIRC - back on slightly longer for a couple of reasons,
1. getting it seated right so seals work properly ;)
2. Not done it in years so a bit rusty :D

Taking it off - just keep undoing the bolts until it lifts off :p

I might do it for real winter, just for a change and to use it :)

What’s the best way to stop a drip at the roof screen joint. Drivers side is okay but passenger side drips a bit.

Please do tell.
Saw something about this on Facebook, no details or pricing just we are going to make some. Seen this kind of thing posted so many times for random parts and usually doesn’t ever amount to anything ever being manufactured. They will priced be as expensive (or more) as a second hand one most likely, so no one will order one...
