1.9 8V. Almost 220 miles with half a tank at normal motorway speeds (70-80mph). Not bad I think. Anyone else getting similar economy?

I have a 2.8 does around 30mpg which I think is more than acceptable. The fuel gauges do tend to drop very quickly once they get down to half a tank tho. I did 160 miles yesterday starting on a full tank. I parked up just below three quarters but it'll only get another 100 miles and it'll be empty.

I've not done a tank of motorway driving but I get about 240 on my usual driving. 2.8 1998

I think its a lovely engine the m43, and the good mpg is a bonus, my commute to work is mostly motorway and I could top 40mpg in my 1.9, my trip computer says my 2.8 is doing over 30mpg on the same route, but doing the sums using the trip on the speedo and fuel in its 28mpg, still not to bad

DATE FUEL COST TRIP TANK AVERAGE

14/05/2016 32.54LTRS £34.72 257MILES 35.85MPG

These are my consumption figures from the recent trip to the Lakes from my 2.8 Auto.

My OBD says I was getting 39.5MPG for the journey back to Truro, but actual calculated was 35.85MPG

I'm well pleased

since my new exhaust the MPH has gone well down :( but if it didn't sound so sweet after 4k revs I may get more....

Wow what exhaust did you buy??? If it has made the cars slower.... MPH we need to keep away from them.....:whistle:

wow @Jack Ratt 35.85MPG thats going some, great mpg for a 2.8:wideyed: now go and take that block of wood out from under the pedal:) thats on par with a m44 (almost) i would sacrifice 5mpg to swap for a 2.8. anyone got figures for the z4?

That was a steady 65-70mph from West Brom, where we refueled to Truro and the M5 and A30 were flowing nicely. If I'm on my own I tend to drive "sedately" =)) but if I'm on a cruise I don't have any trouble keeping up, after all, I'm an ex ZZR1100 pilot .

How many miles on a tank round the doors?
If I really pushed it on an economy run and ran it dry I'm convinced I'd get at least 300+ miles to the tank, generally speaking though it's pretty much the same as @Grumpy at circa 260+ miles to the tank.

Mines about the same around 230-240 from full to when the light pops on.I don't worry about it i know what to expect if it went drastically off id look for an issue but other than that i get what i get.

Do you know what I read my post over before I posted it and still did not realise what I wrote ;), I mean MPG of course and I must admit its actually gone up slightly since doing the vanos, now I average about 30mpg but I don't take much notice as my daily drive is a diesel and this is just a weekend toy so SPG (smiles) is more important than MPG
